Gunpo pizza place: sweet potato pizza and carbonara, Seonmyeonghui

Hi, this is beauty influencer Reepo Beauty :) On days when I'm craving pizza I end up overthinking the order haha. This time I wanted pizza around Dang-dong in Gunpo, so I went to Jagajebbang Seonmyeonghui Pizza, Gunpo Branch.

What we ordered at Seonmyeonghui Pizza in Dang-dong, Gunpo

What we ordered that day wasn't a half-and-half pizza mixing two flavors — it was a whole sweet potato pizza! And since I wanted to enjoy even the edge of the pizza, I added cheese crust too lol. For a side we also ordered carbonara, so we came away full on a pizza-and-pasta combo :)

True to its name, Jagajebbang Seonmyeonghui Pizza, Gunpo Branch uses house-made dough, which gave it a slightly different feel from an ordinary pizza place. Toppings matter for pizza, but personally I think the dough has to be good for the pizza to stay delicious to the last bite.

Inside Seonmyeonghui Pizza: seating and atmosphere

The restaurant had quite a few tables, so it was comfortable for a relaxed meal, and it looked good for a group visit to eat pizza together too. It had an easygoing atmosphere for coming with friends for pizza and beer, or just for a simple meal.

Why a whole sweet potato pizza instead of half-and-half?

After thinking it over, I went with sweet potato pizza without much hesitation that day. I love the sweet, soft flavor unique to sweet potato pizza, so instead of splitting it half-and-half with another flavor, I just ordered a whole pie haha.

Is adding the cheese crust worth it?

And one thing I added here was cheese crust! The sweet potato pizza already has a sweet flavor on its own, but adding cheese crust made each slice richer and more savory, which I loved.

Some people don't really love the leftover crust at the end of a pizza, right? For me, adding cheese crust actually let me enjoy the pizza deliciously all the way to the last bite, which was satisfying lol.

Dough thickness and the sweet potato topping

As soon as the pizza arrived, the generous sweet potato topping caught my eye. Picking up a slice, the dough felt neither too thin nor too thick, and the sweetness of the sweet potato matched well with the savory cheese.

How was the side of carbonara?

It felt like a shame to only eat pizza, so I tried carbonara as a side too. You know pasta pairs surprisingly well when ordered alongside pizza, right? Haha. While the sweet potato pizza was centered on sweetness and savory cheese, the carbonara was creamy and smooth, so eating them in between each other worked as a nice combination.

The sauce was on the thin side, but it coated the noodles well, and taking a bite of pasta between pizza slices offered a nice change of flavor. If we'd only had pizza it might have felt a bit lacking, but ordering carbonara alongside it made the meal much more filling!

By the way, we actually ordered plain tomato-based spaghetti but got a different dish due to an order mix-up, so I think I'll try the tomato one next time.

Sweet potato pizza, cheese crust and carbonara: the verdict

This time we tried the combo of a whole sweet potato pizza + cheese crust + carbonara. Choosing several flavors with a half-and-half pizza is nice too, but when you know exactly what you want to eat, like this day, ordering one pizza cleanly is also a good option haha. If you're a fan of sweet potato pizza especially, I'd recommend trying the sweet-and-cheesy combo with cheese crust added on top!

Oh, and we also had beer with it for the first time in a while, and it went really well with the pizza!!

If you've been looking for a good spot in Dang-dong, Gunpo or a pizza place near Dangjeong Station, I think Jagajebbang Seonmyeonghui Pizza, Gunpo Branch is worth trying for a delicious pizza :) Next time I'd like to try other menu items too haha. Still, on this day the sweet potato pizza with added cheese crust was by far the most satisfying combination~~
