I really needed a hangover cure after drinking too much the night before. So for a late lunch I headed to Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk, a Starfield Goyang favorite right in front of Starfield Goyang. (I visited around 5pm on a Sunday.) I come here fairly often when I need to recover from a hangover, and the spicy, tangy broth paired with generous portions never disappoints — it's a Samsong haejangguk spot I trust completely. I got properly cured and properly full this time too, so here's my review for anyone who needs a good hangover meal!

Where is Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk in Samsong, and where do you park?
Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a 5–7 minute walk from Samsong Station, and just 2–3 minutes from Starfield Goyang. There's parking underneath the building, free for 1 hour.

That familiar, homey Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk sign comes into view.

The interior is spacious with plenty of tables and felt very comfortable. You order with a staff member, and the food comes out fast.

Menu prices and the free rice and broth refill rule
The signature dishes are haejangguk, tripe soup (내장탕), and dombe pork (돔베고기), with sides like seasoned tripe (양무침) and add-on beef blood soup (선지탕), plus a new cutlassfish stew (갈치조림). Haejangguk comes with beef, beef blood, bean sprouts, and dried radish greens; tripe soup comes with tripe, beef blood, bean sprouts, and dried radish greens.

Just so you know, if you're getting it to go, it's packed uncooked. Rice is also sold separately.

Free extra rice + free broth refill per person, per meal. With both rice and broth refills free, it basically feels like getting a second bowl. If you're not into beef blood, just ask them to leave it out beforehand. There's also a set menu, great for ordering alongside dombe pork.

Side dishes: kkakdugi and cheongyang chili peppers
The basic side dishes are kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) and cheongyang chili peppers. You scoop out as much kkakdugi as you want. It's the well-fermented, ripe style. I usually eat with kimchi or fresh-tossed kimchi (geotjeori), so having only kkakdugi was a little disappointing for me.

The table: tripe soup 13,000 won and haejangguk 12,000 won
Ta-da! Tripe soup (₩13,000) and haejangguk (₩12,000) arrived.

Looks pretty generous, right?! The tripe soup is packed with tripe, and it comes with black rice too, which is a nice touch!

The haejangguk has the beef and glass noodles standing out. It arrives boiling hot — the look of it alone is amazing. I came here to recover from drinking and now I'm craving soju again haha.

What the tripe soup tastes like: spicy, clean broth full of tripe
The tripe soup has a spicy yet refreshing flavor. It's loaded with bean sprouts, dried radish greens, two pieces of beef blood, and tons of tripe — filling enough even without rice. No matter how much you eat, there's always more tripe, and the radish greens were soft and went great with everything. It gets subtly spicier the more you eat, but the broth is so clean and refreshing you can't stop!

What the haejangguk tastes like: deep, savory broth with glass noodles and beef
The haejangguk's charm is the glass noodles, which taste even better with the beef. The broth is spicy but deeper and richer. Maybe because of the beef, it leans more toward a deep, savory flavor than a refreshing one, with the beef flavor really coming through — a totally different experience from the tripe soup.

Fish out the beef and glass noodles, mix in a bowl of rice, and one bite completely wipes out last night's hangover — your stomach feels totally cleared out. This is exactly why people keep coming back here for hangover cures. My partner even finished off my rice too haha. Another delicious meal today 🙏

Finish it off with a cup of coffee before you go! It's great for curing a hangover and just as good for a hearty regular meal, so I definitely recommend it 👍
