Samsong restaurant for an evening tripe soup set: Jeju Eunhui-ne

Dinner across from Starfield Goyang at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Samsong

Was thinking hard about what to eat for dinner when I suddenly remembered Eunhui-ne Haejangguk, which I'd spotted passing by Starfield Samsong before. Headed straight there. Turns out parking at the building is easy, so no hesitation — let's go!!

Opening hours and parking at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Samsong

It's right across from Starfield Samsong, so it's really easy to find haha. Hours are 10:00–22:00 on weekdays, but note Monday only runs a shortened 10:00–15:00. On Saturdays and Sundays it opens earlier at 09:00 and runs until 22:00 with no break time, so it's convenient to drop by whenever.

For parking, you can use the building's underground lot. After your meal you get 1 hour of parking support, so there's zero worry even if you drive.

Even before going in, there was a huge haejangguk banner standing outside, radiating pure "I'm a haejangguk restaurant!" energy lol. Especially the dombe pork photo on the banner — it looked so moist and delicious that I was already drooling before setting foot inside;; It said takeout and delivery are available for every menu item too.

Right by the door there was a waitlist board they use when it's busy, but luckily we hit the golden timing and got seated with zero wait! Nice timing lol.

Seating, and the restroom tip to know before you sit down

The inside of Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch was overall really clean and pleasant. Seating ranged from 2-person and 4-person tables to group tables for larger parties, so it seemed great whether you're coming with friends or with family.

Near the entrance there are disposable aprons available, so if you're worried about soup splashing, grab one yourself haha. Oh, and here's a tip you absolutely need to know before using the bathroom!! The bathroom isn't inside the restaurant — it's outside the building — and there's no toilet paper stocked inside!!!!!! Grab tissue from inside the restaurant before you head out, or you'll be in trouble lol.

And here's the best part... free rice refills apparently…… Isn't this seriously such a steal? lol

What to order: the tripe soup and dombe pork set plus one haejangguk

Sat down and looked at the menu, and it was super neatly organized. The main menu was just three items — haejangguk, tripe soup, and dombe pork — nice and simple, and the side menu had seasoned tripe, hanchi mulhoe, and blood soup. Browsing the menu, we spotted a well-put-together set menu, so we ordered one tripe soup + dombe pork set plus an extra haejangguk on its own! Honestly, that dombe pork photo out front played a big part in the decision……ㄷ

A warning about the side-dish chilies: seriously hot

After ordering, I looked around and saw the table already had the basic side dishes set out — chili peppers and chili paste? — plus a container of seokbakji (diced radish kimchi). Just take out as much seokbakji as you'll eat and cut it up on your plate. Wanted a bite of the spicy-looking chili so I bit into a big chunk, and it was way spicier than expected.. whew..; If you can't handle spicy food, be careful..

How was the dombe pork?

We didn't wait long before the dombe pork arrived first. Took a bite and it was totally tender and soft, practically melting in my mouth. The chili served with the dombe pork was, unlike the one on the table earlier, not spicy at all — just right lol;. The meat alone was clean and delicious, and wrapped in lettuce with garlic on top, it was seriously amazing.

Haejangguk vs tripe soup: how the two broths differ

Finally the main soups arrived, bubbling away! The moment they hit the table, this deep savory smell hit me like crazy, and taking a spoonful of the broth, it was spicy yet the kind of cooling, refreshing feeling that clears you right out.

Both the haejangguk and the tripe soup had big chunks of seonji (congealed ox blood) in them, and it was super fresh with zero gaminess haha. Amazing. Garlic also comes on the side, so you can add as much as you like.

Ah!!!!!! The haejangguk and tripe soup broths were completely different. The haejangguk had that deep, rich flavor of a long-simmered beef soup, while the tripe soup had that classic, full-bodied taste built on the tripe's own savoriness lol. Bottom line: both were amazing... even writing this now, looking at the photos makes me want to eat it again ㅠ

Worth skipping the Starfield food court for? Would I come back?

Bottom line, personally, rather than going to some expensive, crowded restaurant inside Starfield, coming across the street to Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is more my style.. 200% satisfied.. the food genuinely tastes great and parking is easy, so next time I'm in the area, I'm definitely coming back lol.
