Hey everyone, today I'm bringing you a pho spot haha. The vibe felt like actual Vietnam and every single dish was delicious plus great value — here's my lunch review from Bangbaedong Ssalguksu, a pho restaurant near Sadang Station.

Bangbaedong Ssalguksu is at 34 Bangbaecheon-ro 8-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, 1F, 478m from Sadang Station Exit 11. You can also reach it from Isu Station Exit 6. It's open Mon–Fri 11:00–22:00, Sat–Sun 11:00–21:00, with last order at 21:00 on weekdays and 20:00 on weekends. It's closed on September 25 for Chuseok.

Coming out of Sadang Station Exit 11 or Isu Station Exit 6, walk straight ahead, then cut in past the Mega Coffee building and walk in for 2-3 minutes to find it. If you're driving, there's no dedicated parking, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot.
Vietnam-style storefront and an interior built for 1–2 diners
Bangbaedong Ssalguksu had that real Vietnam feel right from the entrance! There's a bar table and regular tables, but seating is mostly 1-2 seats, so it's perfect for solo dining or a casual meal with friends or a date.
I visited during lunchtime and the place was packed, so I could tell this was a popular spot. I waited a little bit but the turnover was pretty quick, so I got seated fast.

The table at Bangbaedong Ssalguksu came set with various sauces and utensils. They gave onions and Vietnamese chili peppers as a sort of basic side dish to go with the pho and other dishes — great pairing with the noodles!
The menu had pho, fried rice, bun cha (grilled pork with noodles), side dishes, and drinks including alcohol. The beef brisket pho and fried spring rolls were sold out, so I ordered beef brisket pho (₩11,000), pineapple fried rice (₩12,000), Vietnamese spring rolls (₩6,000), and two zero-sugar colas (₩2,000 each). Just a heads up that some menu items can sell out when ingredients run out!
Honest take on the brisket pho, pineapple fried rice and spring rolls
Bangbaedong Ssalguksu's beef brisket pho had a great balance of hot, rich broth with beef brisket, rice noodles, and bean sprouts. Even without adding any sauce, it was rich and delicious.
The dishes finally came out and everything looked delicious with really generous portions haha. The main dishes seemed to be about 1.5 times a normal serving! At prices in the low ₩10,000s with that much food, it felt like really great value in this economy.
The Vietnamese spring rolls felt like a salad — fresh and perfect as an appetizer. The vegetables inside were fresh and the shrimp were plump, so good good.
The pineapple fried rice had a savory, umami-rich fried rice paired with tangy pineapple, and the combination was the best. Of the three dishes, this was personally my favorite haha. If I come back, I think I'll order this pineapple fried rice again for sure.
Verdict: is Bangbaedong Ssalguksu good value for Vietnamese food in Sadang?
Overall, Bangbaedong Ssalguksu, a pho restaurant near Sadang, was satisfying from the authentic Vietnam vibe to the taste and generous portions haha. Especially with prices in the low ₩10,000s and such generous main dish portions, it felt like really great value, and there was real charm in everything from the hot, rich beef brisket pho to the pineapple fried rice with its sweet-tangy pineapple and savory rice combo.
The spring rolls also had fresh vegetables and plump shrimp, making them a nice light starter before the meal. Most of all, even though it was busy at lunchtime, the turnover was quick so I didn't wait long, and the cozy space with mostly 1-2 seats seemed good for solo dining or a casual meal with friends or a date. It's also easy to get to from Sadang or Isu Station, so accessibility was great too!
Of the three dishes, the pineapple fried rice was my favorite, so if I visit again I'll definitely order it once more haha. If you're looking for affordable, filling, delicious Vietnamese food or pho in Sadang, I think Bangbaedong Ssalguksu is worth a visit!
