Today I'm reviewing Flat Nine, a jazz bar near Gangnam Station! You can enjoy course dining together with live jazz here, so it's a great spot for anniversaries or other special occasions.

Where Flat Nine is and when it opens
⏰ Hours Mon-Thu 6PM - 11PM Friday 6PM - 12AM Saturday 3PM - 12AM Sunday 3PM - 11PM 📍 Location 5F, 10 Gangnam-daero 65-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul Gangnam Station Exit 10 (about 5 min walk)

Flat Nine is 5 minutes from Gangnam Station Exit 10 or Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 7. It was a weekend so Gangnam Station was really crowded. As I walked I could see Flat Nine from a distance.

Flat Nine is on the 5th floor. There's an elevator so you don't have to take the stairs, haha. Different performers play each day, and you can check the lineup on the 1st floor.
This is the September 2026 show schedule. For later schedules or changes, check Flat Nine's Naver page or Instagram.

Flat Nine show times and what time to arrive
Flat Nine's shows have different set schedules depending on the day, and they start exactly on time. If you're planning to catch a show, I'd recommend arriving 20-30 minutes early to grab a seat.
- Monday - Thursday: Set 1 at 8:00 PM
- Friday: Set 1 at 7:00 PM, Set 2 at 9:40 PM
- Saturday: Set 1 at 4:00 PM, Set 2 at 7:00 PM, Set 3 at 9:40 PM
- Sunday: Set 1 at 4:00 PM, Set 2 at 7:00 PM

Inside Flat Nine: seating and the stage view
The interior at Flat Nine is done in black tones, so it felt calm and atmospheric overall. The tables face the stage so you can comfortably enjoy the jazz performance while eating. If you come with a group, they'll push tables together so your party can sit facing each other, apparently.

Live charge and course prices at Flat Nine
Since it's a jazz bar, Flat Nine's live charge is ₩15,000 per person. Along with the jazz performances, Flat Nine is apparently popular for its course meals too. I ordered the Classic Course (for 2) at ₩78,000. The difference between the Classic and Signature courses is the type of meat: the Signature Course has Korean beef 1++ strip loin steak, while the Classic Course has Jeju black pork tenderloin steak.
What the Choi Myung-ji Trio set was like
That day, Flat Nine had a performance by the Choi Myung-ji Trio. Choi Myung-ji's voice really sounded like an instrument — soulful yet clean, comfortable and lovely to listen to throughout. The drummer played with so much flavor too, and the pianist was so gorgeous even I, a woman, was charmed,,, ✨ She played beautifully as well, I was genuinely impressed.

The Classic Course at Flat Nine, dish by dish
The aperitif
While I was watching the show, the course began. The welcome drink comes alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Mine was a cranberry and raspberry sparkling drink with mint and lemon added — sharp yet refreshing, great for waking up the appetite.

Potato pavé
The first dish was potato pavé — thinly sliced potatoes stacked in layers and fried until crispy. Lemon butter, shiso, and chervil made it fragrant and fresh. Root vegetable lovers, this is your spot. If you like potatoes, this will probably hit the spot.

Squid and melon carpaccio
Next was squid and melon carpaccio — an unusual, distinctive dish with squid, Korean melon, and pickled radish. The sauce was subtle and sweet-and-sour with a hint of smokiness. It wasn't a salad, but it felt like eating one. The focaccia served alongside was crispy outside, soft inside, and had great flavor dipped in olive oil.

Sidecar and Godfather cocktails
Sidecar is ₩18,000, Godfather is ₩16,000. During weekend happy hour (3-6PM), all cocktails are 30% off and the live charge drops to ₩10,000.

Mille-feuille lasagna
Next was mille-feuille lasagna, with white truffle add-on for ₩4,000. It's cream-sauce based, so it's rich and smooth. There was plenty of ragu inside so it never felt lacking. I added the white truffle too, and its subtle aroma really boosted the flavor.

Jeju black pork tenderloin steak
The highlight of the course: Jeju black pork tenderloin steak. It looks underdone at first glance, but it's dry-aged and fully cooked, so no worries eating it. It was incredibly tender and juicy. The potatoes and mushrooms served alongside were a great pairing too.

Chocolate cake for dessert
Last was dessert — a chocolate cake. Beautifully plated with a rich, fudgy chocolate flavor, a great finish to the meal.

Is Flat Nine worth it for an anniversary?
Getting this much food for ₩78,000 for two feels like great value. I had a solid course meal along with cocktails. You get live jazz and course dining together with great atmosphere, so if you're looking for a restaurant or bar for a special occasion like an anniversary or birthday, I'd recommend Flat Nine!
