Where is Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch, and is there parking?
Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch sits between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. It's an easy walk from Sinnonhyeon Station, so it's convenient by public transport too. A great location for meeting up and eating in Gangnam!

It's on the 2nd floor of the building, so just check the entrance and head up. If you're driving, there's a building parking lot, and 1 hour of free parking is offered, making it convenient to visit by car too.

Inside Dakgalbijeon: seating and the self-serve side dish corner
The inside of Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch had a casual vibe that's easy to relax in. Since it's an old, long-running favorite, the atmosphere brought back memories of my school days 😌 It seemed like a good place to grab a meal with friends or have a casual drink in the evening!

You order at your table, and side dishes are available at a self-serve corner, so you can grab as much as you need.

They had these cute little chicken figurines so I snapped a photo hahaha. Aren't they adorable all gathered together like that?

Dakgalbijeon's menu, and what exactly is gamssachidak?
Dakgalbijeon serves everything from basic dakgalbi to cheese dakgalbi and a variety of jeon (savory pancake) dishes. Note that noodle add-ons aren't included by default — you have to add them separately haha.

Gamssachidak comes with potato pancake and cheese dakgalbi for two, and apparently most people wrap the cheese dakgalbi in the potato pancake to eat. First time seeing dakgalbi paired with jeon, so I was excited...

Dakgalbijeon runs various events, and here too there's a nostalgia-inducing gacha machine!! I've never once won first prize... maybe someday(?)
How does the 40,000 won gamssachidak set for two taste?
This time I ordered the gamssachidak for two at 40,000 won~ Everything comes fully cooked, so you can dig in right away 👍

Once the food arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was of course the dakgalbi! Piled high with cheese, it made my mouth water the second I saw it...🤤

Taking a bite of the chicken, it was tender and the seasoning was moderately spicy! Instead of being aggressively spicy for the sake of it, I could taste both the sweetness from the cabbage and the kick of the sauce together.

Cheese dakgalbi wrapped in potato pancake
And then, the potato pancake I'd been looking forward to!!! It's made by grating potato and pan-frying it fresh, so it had a nice chewy texture.

The potato pancake is already savory and delicious on its own, but with perilla leaves added, it's even more fragrant and less heavy! I'd rank it #1 among potato pancakes I've had out anywhere 🤗 Plus, eating the potato pancake together with the dakgalbi brought the savory chewiness of the pancake, the spicy sauce of the dakgalbi, and the soft cheese all together at once — the combo worked really well haha.
Compared to eating just the dakgalbi alone, adding in the potato pancake gave a much more varied texture, with bursts of savory flavor throughout, making it a unique way to enjoy the dish. Sharing the gamssachidak for two between us made for a very filling meal.

Finishing with half-cheese, half-flying fish roe fried rice
But wait — how can you hold back on fried rice after dakgalbi? The fried rice comes with both cheese and flying fish roe, and get this — it's a generous half-and-half combo 👏👏👏

The owner clearly knows what's up...! The crispy scorched rice they pressed down for us was seriously delicious too hahaha.

The verdict on Dakgalbijeon Gangnam Branch
If you want to try something a bit different from plain griddle dakgalbi, or you're looking for a solid drinking snack to go with a drink in Gangnam, I recommend this place 👍
