Yeongdeungpo café for fresh blueberry yogurt salt bread: BYWAY BAKERS

That was my first time trying wakku salt bread, and I fell for it because it was so fun and delicious. I found out there's a place selling wakku salt bread near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station too, so I went to try it — here's my review of the fresh blueberry yogurt wakku salt bread from BYWAY BAKERS, a bakery spot I love in Dangsan-dong!

BYWAY BAKERS, a bakery favorite in Dangsan-dong, is about a 5-minute walk from Yeongdeungpogu Office Station on lines 2 and 5, so it's pretty easy to reach by public transit. If you're driving, there's no dedicated parking, so I'd recommend using a nearby public parking lot.

Exterior and interior vibe

BYWAY BAKERS, this Dangsan-dong bakery spot, turned out to be a much bigger café than I expected. As a proper bakery café, the times when each type of bread comes out were posted right at the front. Inside, it was a spacious wood-toned café with tons of tables — and tons of people too! I thought, this must be popular in the neighborhood, haha.

There were various table setups too — seats for two, seats for four, big group tables — so it seemed like a great spot for a date with a friend or partner, or a company tea time.

Menu and prices

BYWAY BAKERS, this bakery spot in Dangsan-dong, had a wide variety of bread ready to go, as you'd expect from a bakery café, haha. Their signature wakku salt bread was laid out so cutely, like fruit arranged at a fruit stand!! It was so clever and adorable I couldn't not buy it.

The bakery selection ranged from meal breads like sandwiches, baguettes, and bagels to dessert breads like financiers and egg tarts. After some thought, I ordered the fresh blueberry yogurt wakku salt bread (₩8,500), almond chocolate financier (₩3,200), Shanghai butter rice cake (₩1,500), and iced Americano (₩4,000).

Aah, my order finally arrived — isn't the visual amazing? Haha

The crackly, savory-sweet financier and the crispy-outside-chewy-inside Shanghai butter rice cake were both solidly above average. As you'd expect from a bakery café, nothing about either felt lacking.

I really, REALLY recommend trying the fresh blueberry yogurt wakku salt bread, haha. For one, the visual is so cute, and the white chocolate coating on top is genuinely crackly — you get that real feeling of smashing a wakku. Plus, the salt bread is packed with big blueberries, and the combo with the white chocolate wakku on top is amazing. I met my all-time favorite wakku salt bread here, so I'm not sure if I'll be satisfied if I try another one elsewhere lol.

The iced Americano was cool and nutty with nothing off about it, perfect to pair with all the sweet desserts.

Overall, if you're looking for a bakery café near Yeongdeungpogu Office Station with great bread and desserts, I'd recommend BYWAY BAKERS Yeongdeungpo Branch. The space is spacious with a variety of tables, making it great to visit with friends or a partner, and there's a wide bakery menu so it's fun to pick and choose.

The fresh blueberry yogurt wakku salt bread was the most memorable for me in particular. Beyond the cute visual, the crispy white chocolate coating packed with big fresh blueberries made for a really lovely sweet-tart combo. The financier and the Shanghai butter rice cake were both solidly tasty too, and with the iced Americano, I could enjoy the sweet desserts without feeling overwhelmed. Next time, I'm planning to come back to smash another wakku salt bread.
