When I mentioned I was going on a trip, a friend said they wanted to come along and eat okonomiyaki — so we ended up in Mullae! This time we visited Jojo Mullae Branch, run by the chef who appeared as the "Teppan Captain" on Culinary Class Wars 2!

How does waiting and reservation work?

If you have to wait, you write your number on the Tabling tablet in front of the restaurant and wait your turn! On weekdays you can book anytime through Naver, but on weekends they only accept reservations for certain time slots! We got lucky and were seated right away~~~

Looking at the menu, there was the Jojo Signature 2-Person Set and also a Monjayaki 2-Person Set! Of course you can order à la carte too! We went with the signature 2-person set — okonomiyaki + yakisoba + donpeyaki for ₩39,000!

You order through the Tabling tablet on the table, and you can pick a flavor for each dish and add toppings! We added cheese and green onion to make it more filling. When it comes to eating, you gotta go all in, haha~~~

Restaurant interior with view of the open kitchen

Restaurant atmosphere and seating

Inside there were about 20 tables, and the spacing between them was pretty generous! Rather than a loud, chaotic vibe, it was pleasantly lively and easy to talk in, so it seemed like a good spot for a date or a group hangout too!

Each table has its own griddle, and since it's an open kitchen you can watch the cooking happen — overall the interior was really clean! You're given cold water and radish as basics, and then wait a bit while the griddle heats up!

Jojo's okonomiyaki, cooked on the griddle right in front of us

First up, the Jojo okonomiyaki we ordered! It was packed with cabbage and loaded with squid, shrimp, and meat too!

A staff member came over and cooked it right in front of us on the griddle, mixing it up with quick flicks and dropping it onto the hot plate! Whew... you could really tell they were a pro, haha.

Here's the add-on I mentioned earlier! Extra cheese and green onion~~~~

After shaping it nicely, they set a 5-minute timer! Five minutes later they came back to flip it, then another roughly 5-minute wait! It kept cooking on the griddle the whole time, so the delicious smell kept wafting up and made the wait so hard, haha.

Donpeyaki cooking on the griddle
Set menu donpeyaki

What does donpeyaki taste like?

While we waited, the donpeyaki came out first! From the outside it looks like a rolled omelet, but inside it's rolled up with meat and moist egg.

The egg was fluffy and soft, and eating it with the meat gave it a savory, slightly salty balance that worked really well together!

Jojo's yakisoba, mixed with a burst yolk

Right after, the Jojo yakisoba showed up too! There's an egg on top, so I popped the yolk and mixed it all together~~~ Inside there was also plenty of cabbage, plus meat and shrimp, so every bite had a different mix of ingredients to chew on!

The sauce was slightly salty in a way that kept me coming back for more bites! Eating it, I found myself craving a cold beer, haha. And best of all, since it stayed on the griddle the whole time, it was still warm right up until the last bite — so good!

The cheese-topped okonomiyaki, finally done

Back to the okonomiyaki! Time had passed and it was finally finished! Once it's fully cooked, they top it with sauce and green onion, and the look of it was insane~~~~~

Finished okonomiyaki topped with sauce and green onion

When we cut into it, the cheese stretched out in long strings — wow, that cheese pull was gorgeous~~~~ The savory, soft cheese paired with the slight crunch of cabbage gave it great texture too! The outside was golden and crisp while the inside stayed moist, and eating it with the sauce brought back that classic okonomiyaki flavor I hadn't had in a while! With so much cabbage in it, it wasn't as greasy as I expected, and the added cheese brought extra savoriness — I fully recommend adding the cheese!

⭐️ If it feels too rich, there's also spicy sauce on the table!

The side we added: pokpo potato for ₩7,000

It was so good that we ended up ordering an extra side — pokpo potato! We were told to mix the egg on top thoroughly, so we mixed away hard~~~

The soft egg combined with something like crispy garlic flakes for texture, giving it a savory, crunchy bite!

Wrapping up: okonomiyaki in Mullae at Jojo Mullae Branch

Overall the 2-person set was generously portioned, with great value and great taste to match! There's also the fun of watching the teppan dishes get made right in front of you, which makes it a good fit for a date, a company outing, or a friends' gathering! If you're looking for okonomiyaki in Mullae, I recommend Jojo!
