Songpa cake studio: Shine Muscat whole cake pickup, Circus Rabbit

In short

Circus Rabbit is a reservation-only handmade cake studio on basement level 1 of Jangmi General Shopping Center, near Jamsilnaru Station in Songpa, Seoul. The size and design were arranged over KakaoTalk, and the finished whole cake, piled with in-season Shine Muscat grapes, was picked up in the morning: 100% animal-based fresh cream with a sponge baked in-house, soft and milky inside. Circus Rabbit is a good choice for anything from anniversary lettering cakes to fruit cakes, with advice on what to order.

I'm Iri the FIRE-seeker, back from the lettering cake spot everyone raves about in Jamsil, Songpa. Here's my genuinely delicious review of Circus Rabbit's handmade cakes!~

Circus Rabbit's signature handmade cake

Where is Circus Rabbit and what are the hours?

Circus Rabbit is a handmade cake studio at B2-10, basement 1F of Jangmi B Shopping Center, 35-gil Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul. It's about 440 meters — under an 8-minute walk — from Exit 3 of Jamsilnaru Station (Line 2).

How to find Circus Rabbit inside Jangmi Shopping Center

Since it's close to both Jamsil and Jamsilnaru stations, Jangmi Shopping Center was easy to find. Coming down through Building B, Entrance 8, the shop appears right away. This entrance is the staircase to the right of the Hyundai Realty office.

How to reserve a lettering cake in Jamsil

Circus Rabbit requires an advance reservation by phone or KakaoTalk to place an order. I searched 'Circus Rabbit' on KakaoTalk and ordered directly with the owner. Naver Reservations works too.

The owner was so kind, walking me through cake types, sizes, and my flavor preferences to recommend something suited to my taste. You give a pickup date and time, pay, and the order is confirmed.

Pickup date and payment information

Since resting the cake for a day is standard practice, if you're using it the day after pickup, you need to mention that in advance.

Choosing the cake size and design at Circus Rabbit

Circus Rabbit's cakes range from small mini lunchbox cakes up through mini and sizes 1 through 5. Check the photo below for sizes and servings when ordering — you also choose height and cake type.

Once you've picked a size, it's time to choose the design. If it's for an anniversary or a special occasion, you'd naturally pick a design to match!

List of lettering cake designs for anniversaries

The designs ranged from love-and-gratitude messages to congratulatory notes to characters that kids love.

For a day that's special to just the two of you, lettering makes it even better — names, dates, and phrases can all be added.

The number of characters allowed varies by size and design, and the owner kindly walked me through all of it.

Color and flavor also change depending on the design, so it seems perfect for prepping a special occasion. There were so many options that I agonized over what to pick.

Morning pickup, self-service pickup and keeping the cake cold

I told them my desired size and design over KakaoTalk and picked up on the reserved day. During business hours you can meet the owner in person to get your cake, and outside those hours, unmanned pickup means there's nothing to worry about!~

I needed mine by lunchtime, so I arrived in the morning — and the owner had already finished making my order.

Other ordered cakes were also being carefully made in the back — clearly a popular spot!

Work space where cakes are being made

Cakes are best kept refrigerated. You can buy a cold pack for ₩2,000, or bring your own cooler box, cooler bag, or ice pack. Reusing something you already have at home is kinder to the environment too — and in autumn weather like this, a cold pack isn't even necessary.

Storage and cold pack guidance

The cakes don't have anchoring pins, so it's best to keep them flat while transporting. If it's a fresh-flower cake, remember the flowers aren't edible and should be removed before eating.

Beyond cakes, they also sell candles and decorations if you want to buy extras.

How did the Shine Muscat whole cake taste?

Personally I love cakes with fruit on them, so this time I ordered Circus Rabbit's cake piled with in-season Shine Muscat grapes.

There was truly so much fruit on top, and it was fresh.

Every single cake at Circus Rabbit uses 100% animal cream. The sponge is also baked in-house by the owner.

No emulsifiers, preservatives, or other chemical additives go in, so the whole family can eat it with peace of mind, apparently. It's good for you, but the taste was also genuinely soft and delicious. My friend and I ate it happily together.

The owner's baking career, framed on the wall

One wall displays the owner's training certificates, awards, career history, and photos. She worked for years at well-known department stores and bakeries, and I spotted a grand prize from a patissier competition. Seeing that she studied at a school in Japan explained why everything tasted so good.

Inside, the cake had a soft milk cream flavor. My friend, who shared it with me, loved it so much she asked where I got it. The other cakes looked delicious too, so I'd love to come back and try more.

The packaging was easy to carry and finished with a pretty ribbon. Thank you for the delicious cake!
