Sangam kalguksu restaurant, extra broth and two fried rice: Deungchon
In short
Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch is a shabu-shabu kalguksu (Korean knife-cut noodle) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Woori Tech building on World Cup Buk-ro 56-gil in Mapo, Seoul. Arriving after 2pm on a weekend, the writer ordered the spicy mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu with extra meat, then added extra noodles and extra broth and ordered a second serving of fried rice for two bowls in all. Between the spicy broth, the fresh-tasting kimchi and the fluffy fried rice, Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch makes a filling lunch for Sangam office workers.

What is the inside of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch like?

First up, the interior of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch, a favorite lunch spot for Sangam office workers! It's spacious, clean and comfortable. Even with the shabu-shabu steam, it stayed pleasant enough to enjoy a tidy meal haha.
I came for a late weekend lunch, a bit past 2pm, and there were still tons of customers — definitely a genuine Mapo local favorite ^.^
Menu board and ordering notices at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu

Here's the menu board at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam! The system is: pick your broth type, then choose meat or other extras. Pick whichever broth suits your taste, but the best one is definitely the spicy broth!
There's also a notice on how to enjoy the shabu-shabu kalguksu properly, and a Naver review event — worth joining if you're interested.
Which side dishes come with the meal in Sangam?

Here's the kimchi they brought after we ordered! That fresh-cut kimchi style — you know how good it is, haha. It's really the kind of style you can only get at Deungchon, and I find myself craving it sometimes!
There are also two sauces on the table — wasabi sauce and soy sauce — feel free to dip according to taste!
How does the spicy mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu with extra meat taste?

Here's the spicy mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu with extra meat that we ordered! It came out almost right away, and the staff were so kind that it made the meal even more enjoyable ^.^

⭐️Spicy mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu⭐️ First, the spicy mushroom shabu-shabu kalguksu comes with one of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu's best broths — it's spicy, and honestly it's my favorite broth too haha. I always order this spicy broth!
Anyway, once it starts bubbling, you add the meat and simmer a little longer. The spicy broth was deep, rich, and had a nice kick — perfect for that day since my throat wasn't feeling great!

The meat portion was surprisingly generous, not tough at all, super soft and tender — so good! It paired really well with the fragrant minari (water dropwort) too, and it was so tasty ^.^
Also, the soy sauce wasn't too salty — tangy with a punch of umami, totally my type! The wasabi sauce wasn't as spicy as expected, but had that sharp wasabi kick, making it easy and tasty to enjoy without any burden!

There was also plenty of oyster mushroom and potato in there, great to eat alongside everything. Meat, minari, mushrooms, potatoes — lots of variety to enjoy. It especially paired well with that kimchi, making for a hearty lunch~!

Adding extra kalguksu noodles and extra broth
⭐️Kalguksu⭐️ When we were nearly done eating, they cooked the kalguksu noodles, and the texture was chewy and springy — loved it right away! Plus, the noodles soaked up the seasoning from the broth perfectly, so delicious!
We were a bit short on broth so we added more — since extra broth is available, feel free to add more if you're running low ^.^

The highlight: two bowls of fried rice
⭐️Fried rice⭐️ Finally, the highlight — the fried rice! Anyone come to Deungchon just because they can't forget this fried rice? That would be me..! It usually comes with the meal, but we added one more so we had two haha. They fry it up in the kitchen, so it's good to ask them to start frying it while you're finishing your kalguksu!
Fluffy, nutty, perfectly seasoned — honestly might be the best fried rice out there. It's delicious even on its own, no complaints at all, and it paired well with the kimchi too!

My personal tip: leave a little broth aside and dip the rice in it, or mash up some potato and mix it in — you have to try eating it this way haha. Way more delicious ^.^

If any of you neighbors are looking for a great-value, filling lunch spot in Sangam-dong for office workers, I'd really recommend giving Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Sangam Branch a visit :)
