I was craving gopchang (grilled beef intestine) in Mokdong, so I went to Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch. I had garlic gopchang and mixed gopchang, then finished with fried rice. Prices felt a bit on the higher side, but the garlic gopchang had no off smell at all, and the fried rice portion was generous — a filling meal overall.
I first noted down the restaurant's address and the menu prices as photographed at the time of my visit. Prices may differ from current pricing.

Where Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is and what we ordered
As the address suggests, the restaurant is on the 1st floor at 226-13 Mokdongdong-ro. That day I ordered garlic gopchang and mixed gopchang, then added fried rice at the end of the meal. I ate my way from grilled meat straight through to rice, so my memory of the menu and portions is pretty vivid.

At the entrance there was a sign about traditional handmade garlic gopchang. Since that was one of the dishes I'd ordered, it caught my eye, and I got to double-check the menu name right there at the door.

Menu prices and the 200g portion size
The prices felt a bit high to me, so I looked over the menu before ordering. Both grilled gopchang dishes were listed at 200g, which made it easy to compare price against weight. The prices in the photo reflect what was posted at the time of my visit and may differ from current prices, so check the menu before ordering. I went with garlic gopchang and mixed gopchang.

The fried rice was listed as a 1–2 person dish. I added it after finishing the gopchang, and the portion turned out to be much bigger than I expected. If you're wondering whether the grilled dishes alone will be enough, it's worth deciding in advance whether to add rice too.

Soondubu jjigae and the side dishes that come free
While eating the gopchang, I also had the soondubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) that came included with the meal. It was so good that it stuck in my memory almost as much as the gopchang itself. The table also came with potato salad, pickled onion, and chive salad, and among those, the shiitake mushroom with wasabi combination was my favorite.

The soondubu jjigae came in a stone pot with big chunks of tofu. Sipping the broth in between rounds of grilling kept the meal flowing nicely, and I was glad the included dish was this good.

Among the side dishes, eating shiitake mushroom together with wasabi was especially good. I tried it the way it was described on the menu, and it really suited my taste. It's a simple combination — shiitake plus a bit of wasabi in between bites of gopchang — but it stuck with me.

Did the garlic gopchang have any off smell?
The gopchang was grilled right at the table. The griddle held the gopchang alongside vegetables like bean sprouts, chives, and onion. What I liked most about the garlic gopchang was that there was no off smell at all. If you're sensitive to gopchang's smell, this matters a lot — and the garlic gopchang I had was tasty without any hesitation.

Grilling the mixed gopchang alongside it
Ordering the mixed gopchang alongside gave the meal a different rhythm than sticking to one dish. I also grilled and ate beef tripe (stomach lining), which was good. Getting to taste several cuts made ordering both dishes together feel worthwhile.

Alternating between the garlic gopchang and the mixed gopchang let me taste different grilled cuts throughout the meal. If you're torn between having plenty of one thing or trying a bit of everything, splitting an order between two dishes like this is a good approach.

Prices felt a bit high, but I was satisfied with the grilling experience overall. Gopchang alone might leave you a little short on food, and in my case, adding the fried rice at the end worked out well.

Between rounds of grilling, I had the included stew and the shiitake-wasabi side dish, then finished with fried rice. The grilled meat, side dishes, and rice all complemented each other, so the meal felt like it built up step by step.

Is the fried rice worth ordering too?
I felt gopchang alone might leave me a bit short on food, so I added the fried rice. When ordering, I wasn't sure if adding a rice dish would be enough — but in the end it helped me finish the meal fully satisfied. It's worth thinking about how much gopchang you plan to eat and your usual appetite when deciding what to order.

The fried rice was something I added after finishing the grilled dishes. The portion was bigger than expected, which made up for any worry that gopchang alone wouldn't be enough, and let me end the meal feeling well fed.

The fried rice really was a huge portion. The menu listed it as 1–2 servings, but when it arrived it was more generous than I expected, and I finished the meal completely full. If you're worried the grilled dishes alone won't be enough at this Mokdong gopchang spot, consider adding the fried rice too.
Final verdict on Omokgyo Gopchang in Mokdong
I liked that the garlic gopchang had no off smell, and the beef tripe was good too. Prices felt a bit high, but between the included soondubu jjigae, the shiitake-wasabi combination, and the generous fried rice, I ended the meal satisfied.
If you want to try several kinds of gopchang or enjoy finishing a grilled meal with fried rice, this order combination is worth referencing. Prices at the time of my visit may differ from current prices, so it's best to check the menu. I hope this helps if you're choosing what and how much to order at a Mokdong gopchang restaurant.
