Jinhae Korean BBQ with bone-in ribeye grilled for you: Donmi Gaok

For the weekend, my family decided to get together after a while for lunch at a clean, well-kept Korean BBQ place. After some back and forth on where to go, we headed to Donmi Gaok Jinhae Main Branch, a well-known spot in Jinhae, Changwon famous for its upscale atmosphere and excellent meat quality.

Donmi Gaok Jinhae Main Branch is on the 1st floor at 94 Dongjin-ro, Jinhae-gu, Changwon, which made it a great destination for a little drive out. There are about 4 dedicated parking spots right in front of the restaurant, so parking and getting inside was easy. We visited with family on a Sunday for lunch, and even the exterior of this Changwon, Jinhae favorite felt sleek and clean right away!

Hall seating and private rooms: is Donmi Gaok good for a family meal?

Stepping inside Donmi Gaok Jinhae Main Branch, the interior was really spacious and airy, with no sense of crowding at all. The regular hall seating had generous gaps between tables, which I liked, and

there was also a well-set-up private room-style space on one side, which struck me as ideal for family meals or group gatherings. On top of that, the cutlery and table settings looked hygienic and perfectly arranged from the moment we sat down — it really felt like being properly hosted!

Side dishes and the order: bone-in ribeye and pork belly

As soon as we sat down, the side dishes were set out, and every single one was neat and clean. It was a great lineup to pair with meat, and the grill pan placed at the center of the table looked thick and sturdy right off the bat — my expectations for the meat shot straight up 😗

That day, my family ordered Donmi Gaok Jinhae Main Branch's signature special cut — bone-in ribeye, 1 serving — along with juicy pork belly, 3 servings. When the meat came out, the thickness and the bright red marbling were amazing...

What really made me feel this place knows what it's doing was that they carefully wrapped whole mushrooms in foil and placed them on the grill together with the meat. Grilling them this way keeps the vegetable juices from escaping so they cook up moist — a nice touch from the owner.

On top of that, a rich, deep-flavored kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) came complimentary as a default, which was great for warming up our stomachs before the meat was cooked through.

Staff grill every cut for you at Donmi Gaok

What satisfied me most at Donmi Gaok Jinhae Main Branch was that a skilled staff member carefully grilled the meat from start to finish!

They grilled the bone-in ribeye and pork belly to a golden-brown, perfectly cooked degree, so we could just relax, chat with family, and eat comfortably.

Dipping the fully cooked pork belly and bone-in ribeye alternately into the restaurant's various special sauces (wasabi, salt, etc.), the juices burst in my mouth.

The pairing with the moist whole grilled mushrooms pulled out of the foil was perfect too... the meat was genuinely delicious.

Finishing with bibim milmyeon, spicy cold wheat noodles

After eating our fill of meat, we ordered a cool, spicy-sweet bibim milmyeon (chilled spicy wheat noodles) as a finishing dish. Wrapping the leftover meat together with it cut through the greasiness completely and gave us a clean finish, haha.
