Jinhae, Changwon pork BBQ: 1kg platter for 63,000 won at Hanpanjip

In short

Hanpanjip is a pre-grilled pork BBQ restaurant at the entrance of the Seokdong bar street in Jinhae, Changwon. On a night out with friends, the writer ordered the 600g platter of pork belly, pork neck and pork skin, grilled with bean sprouts and white kimchi, and finished with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup). With Korean pork at about 6,000 won per 100g and free food for anyone who waits, Hanpanjip is an easy, affordable pick for a group.

A day I met up with the Migongyuk members for dinner. Just a few years ago, meeting friends for dinner after work and heading home was a daily thing, but now that we're older, everyone's lives have gotten busy — most weekdays it's just work and home, work and home. So when a get-together with friends actually gets scheduled in the middle of that monotonous routine, it's such a welcome thing.

The mood on the day of the visit to Hanpanjip in Seokdong, Jinhae

Where is Hanpanjip in Jinhae, and where can you park?

Our meeting spot, Hanpanjip, a well-known restaurant in Seokdong, Jinhae, sits right at the entrance of the Seokdong bar street. It's easy to find — diagonal from a corner spot, or across from a chojang-jip (raw seafood restaurant). There's no dedicated parking space, so you'll need to use a nearby public lot or park in the alley.

Hanpanjip opening hours and how to reserve

Hanpanjip is open daily from 17:00 to 23:30. There's always a wait whenever I go, so I'd recommend making a Naver reservation before heading over.

A Korean BBQ restaurant where the pork arrives fully grilled

Hanpanjip is a restaurant where the meat comes out already grilled — you literally don't have to cook anything yourself, which makes it great for family dinners, group gatherings, or dates. And no worries about your clothes smelling like smoke afterward, nope!

Note about the minari and rustic doenjang jjigae pairing

Just looking at the minari (water dropwort) that goes so well with grilled meat, plus the rustic doenjang jjigae, you know it can't be anything but delicious. Feels like the kind of thing you'd want a drink with in the evening, right?

Inside Hanpanjip: seating for groups of 4 to 6

Inside, there were tables set up for 4 to 6 people. It's such a popular restaurant in Jinhae that tables fill up again the moment they empty. I'd say reservations are a better bet than just walking in.

Hanpanjip's basic side dishes. Assorted sauces, geotjeori, myeongi namul, radish salad, and green onion kimchi all came out — great to pair with the meat.

Hanpanjip menu and prices: 600g for 39,900 won, 1kg for 63,000 won

Hanpanjip's menu and prices: the 600g platter (hanpan) is ₩39,900, and the 1kg platter (dupan) is ₩63,000, which works out to ₩6,300 per 100g — great value for a Jinhae pork restaurant. It's a place you can visit with a group and eat pork belly without worrying about the bill. After finishing the meat, there was a good range of meal options too — doenjang jjigae, kimchi jjigae, ramyeon, naengmyeon, bibim myeon, and soy-butter egg rice.

What you get for waiting for a table at Hanpanjip

Hanpanjip lets you eat Korean pork for around ₩6,000 per 100g, and if you end up waiting, you get rewarded — 1 drink at 10 minutes, doenjang jjigae or a bottle of alcohol at 20 minutes, a side dish at 30 minutes, and pork belly and pork neck on the house at 1 hour. Honestly, it might be worth waiting just for the good value.

Normally you can't eat pork belly without a drink, but since it was the Migongyuk crew, alcohol was a nope!

Since the meat comes out already grilled, we spent the wait having a heated discussion about the fate of Migongyuk, and before we knew it, the food arrived.

The platter: pork belly, pork neck and pork skin

Since it all comes pre-grilled, all you have to do is eat, which is so nice. The platter we ordered included pork belly, pork neck, and pork skin.

Bean sprouts and white kimchi grilled together on the platter

It's great being able to try several cuts at once, and the bean sprouts and white kimchi grilled alongside made a nice accompaniment. The pork neck and belly were pure juicy tenderness, and the pork skin was chewy and delicious too — great as a drinking snack.

Chewy pork skin and pork neck

The very first bite I had was dipped in garlic salt, and the combination of lean meat and fat was excellent — the pork itself was just tasty. At around ₩6,000 per 100g for this quality, there's a reason people wait for a table at this Seokdong restaurant.

You can mix and match with sauces, breadcrumbs, myeongi namul, green onion kimchi and more — it's great that Hanpanjip lets you customize each bite however you like.

Finishing the meal with doenjang jjigae and mul naengmyeon

As we were finishing up the meat, we ordered doenjang jjigae and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) from the meal menu. The doenjang sulbap, served bubbling in a stone pot, looks so good you know it can't taste bad. It was pleasantly spicy and tangy — great to eat after the meat, or alongside a drink.

The mul naengmyeon came with a nice cool broth too, and paired well with the meat.

Every single dish we ordered that day was a win — Hanpanjip really delivers.
