Changwon café in Uichang-gu: Pyochun cookies and fig purée, Teuwaetmoa

Today I want to post about Teuwaetmoa Changwon Branch, a European-style brunch spot in Changwon, Gyeongnam!

I first spotted Teuwaetmoa Changwon Branch last year when I was deep into a brunch phase and saw photos of their fig dessert, telling myself I'd definitely visit this year. I later found out it's run by the same owner as Pot of Busan, my favorite café in Jeonpo — and once I remembered that connection, I headed straight over!

For parking, there's a public lot right across from the building, but the space is limited — when I visited it was already full, so I parked in a nearby alley instead.

What the café looks like and how many seats Teuwaetmoa has

The interior of Teuwaetmoa is a bit smaller than I expected, but the overall decor and props were completely my style — I loved it.

Every corner is decorated so nicely that it was genuinely fun taking photos ₊˚ ⊹ ♡

Inside Teuwaetmoa Changwon Branch, there are four 2- to 3-person center tables and one 2-person bar table right in front of the counter,

plus 2-person seats by the self-bar area, for a total capacity of up to 6 parties,

As you explore the space, the owner personally brings your order to the table — since she runs the place alone, it takes a bit of time for the food to come out, so keep that in mind 〰

So what I ordered at Teuwaetmoa was the fig Oji toast (₩16,000), an Americano (₩5,500), the signature Girimyeo (₩7,000), and a Pyochun cookie (₩2,000),

Fig Oji toast: is the fig purée sauce worth 16,000 won?

The fig Oji toast (₩16,000) is a seasonal menu item — toast packed full of figs, topped with a generous amount of thick Greek yogurt cream, and finished with a house-made fig purée sauce. If it had just been plain whipped cream it might have been heavy and overly sweet, but mixing it with Greek yogurt made it lighter, fresh and sweet, and it went really well with the toast.

The fig purée sauce underneath was especially delicious — cut the toast into bite-sized pieces, add a bit of cream and a slice of fig, dip it generously into the fig purée sauce, and honestly there's no greater happiness 🥹🤍

Fig Oji toast is a dessert you can't get once fig season ends, so I really hope everyone tries it before the season passes 🥲

Signature Girimyeo: smoky coffee you'll either love or skip

The signature Girimyeo (₩7,000) is a drink combining smoky spice, cream, citrus, and coffee. I'd never seen coffee, citrus, and spice combined like that, so I had to order it.

Before you even take a sip, the signature Girimyeo has a smoky aroma, and a strong citrus flavor hits first, followed by soft cream flooding your mouth, with the coffee flavor lingering subtly at the end. The coffee itself was delicious, but it's definitely a polarizing combination.

Pyochun cookie for 2,000 won, complete with a little note

Teuwaetmoa Changwon Branch also sells Pyochun cookies, and since I'm obsessed with things like this, I grabbed one right away,

Lately I've been watching videos and thinking about building my own daily routine, slowly putting one together — so it was such a fun coincidence to get a note that was exactly about routines ..

Everything about Teuwaetmoa was wonderful — the overall space and atmosphere, the various props and plants, and the desserts ♡ Teuwaetmoa Changwon Branch has a sister location in Jeonpo, Busan, decorated in a similarly styled way but with a wider variety of bingsu and desserts, so I'd love to visit that one someday too.
