Today's post is a review of a tidy, wallet-friendly Korean set-menu restaurant near Balsan Station. Rich seaweed soup, springy cockle bibim, beef jeon, pork stir-fry, and golden grilled mackerel — this is Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch, and I came home 200% satisfied and stuffed. Here goes!

How to find Mikodam from Balsan Station, and parking at 6pm

Mikodam, a well-known Korean restaurant near Balsan Station, is a 4-minute walk from Exit 4. It's on the ground floor, so there are no stairs to worry about if you're visiting with elderly parents or young kids. Haha.

You can also use the parking tower right next to the restaurant. But we visited at 6pm, and at that time it was full, so we ended up parking right in front of the store. If you're visiting during peak hours, I'd recommend calling ahead!

Inside Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch: room booking rules for groups

The interior of Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch feels clean and neatly kept. Overall it has a stylish, comfortable Korean-restaurant vibe, which made it look great for a family meal or a gathering with relatives.

Reservations are possible starting from 4 people, and seats in the open-room area are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. One thing to note: a private room can be reserved for groups of 6 or more!

There was already dining paper laid out on the table, which made it feel even cleaner. Haha. Seaweed soup, mackerel, cockles, and pork stir-fry all came out together — super filling!

What comes in Mikodam's 46,000 won Korean set for two

Mikodam specializes in Korean set menus (hanjeongsik). They have both set menus and individual dishes.

We ordered the Korean set for 2 (₩46,000) and a zero-sugar cola (₩2,000)!

Other drinks, alcohol, and even side dish refills can all be ordered through the POS kiosk at the table, which was really convenient.

Stir-fried pork, mackerel, flounder, seaweed soup, cockles and beef jeon fill the table

Mikodam's 2-person set kept coming and coming — pork stir-fry, grilled mackerel, flounder, seaweed soup, cockles, beef jeon — until the table was completely full. Dish after dish kept piling up like a mountain...

Seriously, the table just kept filling up nonstop. Pork, mackerel, flounder, seaweed soup, cockles, beef jeon, and more...

It was so plentiful, and since it's Korean food, it sat light on the stomach — we ate really well. The golden beef jeon, the smoky-charred pork stir-fry, the crisp-outside-tender-inside grilled mackerel — nothing was lacking. Even the basic side dishes weren't too salty and were nicely clean-tasting, so I kept piling them onto my rice.

Dessert at Mikodam: plum drink, sikhye and warm popped corn

Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch also has dessert. Plum tea and sikhye (sweet rice punch), heart!

They even had popped corn, which surprised me a lot... It was sitting in a rice cooker, so it was warm and perfect to eat. Big respect to the owner's sense for that!

Is Mikodam worth it for a family dinner near Balsan Station?

Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch is easy to get to, just a 4-minute walk from Balsan Station, and it's a clean, budget-friendly go-to Korean restaurant in the Magok area. The space is tidy enough that it's a no-fail choice whether you're bringing your parents, having a family dinner, or meeting work colleagues.

The ₩46,000 2-person set is packed full, and they even have a beef jeon birthday event, which makes it even more generous... If you're craving a comforting, hearty, well-made Korean meal, I recommend Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch, a Korean restaurant near Balsan Station!
