A hearty wang galbitang breakfast near Hoegi Station
I was in Seoul that day anyway, so I stopped in here for breakfast.

I like a filling breakfast, which is why I came, and this isn't just any galbitang (beef short rib soup) — it's wang galbitang, with the ribs served bone-in, so the presentation is next level and the portion is generous too.
What I ordered
Energy-boost special wang galbitang (기력회복 특왕갈비탕) ₩18,000

The basic side dishes were kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), green chili peppers and deodeok-muchim (seasoned deodeok root)!! Short rib bones this enormous really make you want to dig in~ How can a single meal be this filling and this delicious!!

Since it's a white broth, it's great for mixing rice in for kids too! And even though it's a white broth, I was sweating while eating it. Which means it's the real deal, a truly rich stock. So many nourishing ingredients go into it that it's practically a health tonic, and I think that's why my body was heating up ~~

From eating alone to family takeout
It's great for a solo meal, and a good place to come whenever you feel like a hot bowl of soup! My family always buys galbitang for the holidays! It's just too hard to make at home~
We've tried a different galbitang product every time, but in my opinion this place is the top pick! I'm thinking of suggesting we get takeout galbitang from here this fall! I think the elders in the family would love it too. I've never even considered making it at home, but I imagine it's a dish that takes an enormous amount of time and care.
To make galbitang, first you have to draw out all the blood completely! And you have to keep skimming off the fat to keep the broth clean and clear! It looks great, and it's a meal that really fills you up.

Barley gangjeong and misugaru
As for the barley gangjeong (crispy barley sweets), you can try it in the restaurant, and you can also buy some to take home as a snack. One bag is ₩3,000, two bags are ₩5,000.

You can even drink misugaru (roasted multigrain powder drink) here. When I was little, my mom often bought misugaru and made it for me with ice cubes floating in it, but these days I hardly ever get the chance to have it haha

So seeing misugaru at this restaurant made me really happy, and having it for the first time in ages, it was so good. Sweet yet rich, perfect for cleansing the palate!! And they have more than 5,000 Naver receipt reviews, no less..! It's not just bloggers like me who've been through here; it's already recognized as a top spot, a genuinely popular, genuinely good restaurant! A Hoegi Station favorite for a proper meal.

I think restaurants like this don't recruit bloggers because business is slow, but simply to keep things going! Since the taste and reputation are already proven, bloggers get to eat delicious food, which is great! And customers can read posts with detailed descriptions of the flavors before visiting, which is great too!!

When each person orders one dish, you can also help yourself to extra rice! Next time I want to try the spicy broth too! A great place for a hangover meal!
The restaurant was also really clean, so I could eat with confidence~~ These days hygiene is priority number one, whatever anyone says!! And a place that makes food needs to be managed even better! The meat isn't tough, it's clean-tasting, and the portions are generous, that's this place!
