Seowon Angil Hapjeong opened recently, and it's big — not just coffee, but pasta, sandwiches, and other meal options too, making it a great pick for brunch or a light meal. Here's my write-up from an actual visit.

Seowon Angil Hapjeong is at 34 Jandari-ro 3-gil, 1st and 2nd floor, Mapo-gu, Seoul. On weekdays, the 1st floor runs 09:00–20:00 (last order 19:00) and the 2nd floor 11:00–18:00; on weekends, the 1st floor runs 11:00–21:00 (last order 20:00) and the 2nd floor 11:00–18:00.

Since Seowon Angil is known as a brunch spot, the Western-food menu is varied, and the Rigatoni Ragù Pasta is the signature! There's also soup and salad, making it a solid brunch lineup. Special items like beef tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), an English breakfast, and a charcuterie & cheese plate also catch the eye.
You can smell and pick from three coffee beans — fruity, nutty, and decaf.
The house-made cakes look so pretty 🍰. There's also beer and wine, so this is a good pick for a Western-food date too.
There's also a build-your-own salad menu, letting you customize each component — perfect if you're watching your diet.
In one corner they also sell Seowon Angil merchandise — coffee beans, mugs, and the like — which looked like nice gift options.
Atmosphere and table layout on both floors
First floor of Seowon Angil Hapjeong
The moment I stepped into Seowon Angil, I fell for the lush, green atmosphere. The floor-to-ceiling windows letting in all that sunlight really stand out.
It's an open kitchen, so you can watch the cooking happen, and everything is kept clean overall.
The table setup is really varied, from two-seaters to group tables.
There's a restroom on every floor too, so no inconvenience there — a genuinely large Hapjeong café.
Second floor of Seowon Angil Hapjeong
The 2nd floor only runs until 6 pm. Each floor is laid out differently, so the vibe changes no matter where you sit.
Large potted plants act as space dividers, and the tables are spaced generously enough that you can chat comfortably without worrying about the next table.
Being a large café, there's not much to worry about in terms of seating, whether you go alone or with a group. On a weekday evening visit, I actually saw a lot of people who'd come alone to work or read.

This pasta comes topped with whole, hefty meatballs. The meatballs themselves are tender and juicy, and eaten together with the sauce they make for a filling meal.
The sourdough that comes with it also works well as part of the meal.
This is an open sandwich with herb-seasoned shrimp and arugula on bread. The plump texture of the shrimp and the slightly bitter arugula worked well together — a nice light option.
Why the pumpkin soup of the day was the top pick
Today's soup changes daily, and on this visit it was pumpkin soup. My personal favorite 🎃
It's genuinely rich and smooth. Best soup I've had in my life!
Instead of artificial sweetness, it's the pumpkin's own mellow sweetness that makes it so good. It also came with freshly baked, warm sourdough, making it easy to enjoy as a light brunch.
Sauces, salt, and pepper are at a self-serve bar! Blankets and cushions are also available.

If you're looking for a large café in Hapjeong — and want more than just a cup of coffee, but a proper meal too — I'd recommend Seowon Angil Hapjeong. Both the spacious layout and the Western-food menu made for a satisfying visit.
