Hanam Korean restaurant with endless seafood: O Hyeongje

On a chilly day, I was craving seafood broth

The weather suddenly got chilly, right? By evening yesterday, it was quite a bit colder than I expectedㅠㅠ

Maybe because both my friend and I had drinks the day before, we wanted a hangover cure from the morning on. With the chilly weather too, all I could think about was a warm, easy-on-the-stomach broth haha.

Parking and the exterior

If you're visiting by car, I don't think you'll need to worry too much about parking!

There is parking not only in front of the restaurant, but also alongside and behind it. When several people come together for a family gathering, convenient parking is more important than you might think, right? There was someone guiding cars too, so it was a nice spot for visitors driving over haha.

As soon as I arrived, I was surprised that the restaurant was much larger than I expected haha.

The building itself is spacious and the exterior is neatly done, so the O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang sign immediately caught my eye even from a distance!

Spacious seating for family gatherings, too

Once inside, the restaurant was as clean and spacious as its exterior. There was plenty of space between tables, so it did not feel cramped, and overall it had a pleasant atmosphere for a meal haha.

They also have reserved seating. It looked good not only for an everyday meal, but for a family gathering or a meal with your parents too haha.

The tables were neatly set and everything felt clean, which made it a nice place to eat.

As in the photo, there is also sofa-style seating by the windows.

A serving robot and self-bar side dishes

As soon as we sat down, a cute serving robot brought over the side dishes 🤖💕

This was the basic table setting. There was more variety than I expected, and everything was nicely seasoned without being overpowering, so it was easy to enjoy! haha. There was also a neatly arranged self-bar on one side haha.

From salad to assorted banchan (Korean side dishes) and different kimchi, there was plenty available, so it was convenient to help ourselves to as much as we wanted.

There was even fruit after the meal, which was nice for cleansing the palate.

The green-onion kimchi in particular was seriously delicious.. The napa cabbage kimchi was delicious too, so I went back for more twice haha.

The dongchimi (radish water kimchi) was cool and delicious, and the white kimchi was clean-tasting. As I tried them one by one, I realized I had finished them all. Seriously, every kind of kimchi here was delicious.

Aprons and tableware were also set out separately beside the self-bar haha.

Seafood abalone nurungjitang with seafood that kept coming

We both ordered the seafood abalone nurungjitang (scorched-rice soup). A staff member made it by pouring crispy rice and hot seafood broth into a stone pot. As soon as the broth went in, it bubbled away in the pot—fun to watch, too haha.

There was a wide variety of seafood—abalone, shrimp, squid, webfoot octopus, and more—and plenty of it haha. The portion was more generous than I expected! My friend and I both eat quite well for women, but seafood just kept appearing no matter how much we ate, so I think we ate for quite a while.

We kept saying we were full, full, but somehow our spoons would not stop. We felt completely stuffed, but it was so good that we kept taking one more spoonful haha.

In the end, even while saying we were full, we both diligently finished it haha. Empty stone pots~~

Would it be good to go with your parents?

If you're looking for a good spot in Hanam Misa for a family gathering with your parents, I think this place is quite nice!

As I ate, I kept thinking that parents would really like it here. Rather than being strong or salty, it had a mild flavor with a subtle savory depth, so it did not feel heavy even as I kept eating. It is a little sad that it is not near my home 🥹
