Black pork neck and gray mullet cold noodles, Bucheon BBQ: Cham

In short

Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi that smokes Jirisan black pork and Boseong nokdon pork over charcoal and rice husks. The table ordered Boseong nokdon gabrisal and black pork neck, grilled by staff and wrapped in sliced potato, finishing with Jirisan arrowroot cold noodles and fried rice. Worth a spot on the list if you want something different from an ordinary samgyeopsal place.

I recently visited Bucheon and stopped by Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch! It's a place where you can enjoy pork belly in a slightly different way from the usual, so I was curious and decided to check it out.

The exterior

The sign is easy to spot even from a distance, so I could find the restaurant without any trouble. First-time visitors shouldn't have any trouble finding it either (like me 🤗).

What caught my eye most outside was a sign at the entrance listing the three reasons Cham Dwaejitgan stands out (gives off a confident vibe about their meat and quality, which builds trust haha).

The rice husk smoking method in particular was new to me, and I got curious what kind of aroma and flavor it adds to the meat 👀

Interior and the aging room

Restroom entrance styled with a charcoal look

The restaurant was bigger than I expected! There were quite a few customers when I visited, but since the space is spacious and the tables are spread out generously, it never felt crowded and I could eat comfortably. It would also be great for a company dinner!

At the back of the restaurant, meat being aged was displayed in an open space. Having the aging process visible for customers to see was reassuring — you can check for yourself how the meat is being managed 👏

The restrooms are separated by gender. Doesn't the entrance have a bit of a charcoal vibe? haha

Charcoal and rice husks in the table grill

Each table's grill held charcoal and rice husks, exactly as stated on the sign. This was my first time at a BBQ restaurant that smokes with rice husks to bring out the meat's flavor, and seeing it in person really showed Cham Dwaejitgan's character 😮

Cham Dwaejitgan says it uses quality Jirisan black pork and Boseong nokdon pork! At our table we wanted to try both types, so we picked menu items that included each 🤤

Side dishes and the handmade grill plate

Neatly arranged set of side dishes

The side dishes came out neatly arranged, each one paired well with the meat.

There was a short explanation at the table of what role each side dish plays. Nice to have as a guide while eating.

Minari, seasoned bean sprouts, and kimchi placed on the grill

After the side dishes came out, a staff member neatly arranged minari (water celery), seasoned bean sprouts, and kimchi on the grill. By the way, Cham Dwaejitgan only uses domestic minari! And the grill itself is a handmade design meant to reduce oil splatter. It's clear they pay attention not just to the meat but to the vegetables and the grill too ☺️

The thick-cut Boseong nokdon gabrisal and black pork neck looked mouthwatering the moment they hit the grill 🤤

On the side was sliced potato, thinly cut and grilled, meant for wrapping the meat. I was so curious what the meat would taste like wrapped in potato!!

Staff grilling and the potato wrap taste

Cham Dwaejitgan offers a grilling service — the meat is quite thick, so it seemed easy to end up with it either only cooked on the outside or undercooked in the middle, but the staff member watched carefully and grilled it just right.

Ta-da ✨

Pork cooked just right by staff grilling

The meat came out perfectly cooked and looking so appetizing!!!

A piece of meat wrapped in sliced potato

I don't usually wrap meat in vegetables, but the meat-and-potato combo was really good!! The meat's own flavor combined with the mild taste of the potato, each complementing the other without overpowering it. So goooood 🔥

Finishing with Jirisan arrowroot cold noodles and fried rice

I also had the Jirisan arrowroot cold noodles with a piece of meat on the side — nothing beats sweet and tangy cold noodles paired with a bite of meat 💯

No meal is complete without fried rice at the end 🍚💫

Right in front of us, a staff member cut up bean sprouts, minari, kimchi, and the leftover meat on the grill and mixed it all together — just watching made my mouth water, I couldn't wait to eat it ㅜㅜ

Fried rice mixed directly on the grill

They even shaped it into a heart ❤️ — such a nice touch haha. Even though I was already pretty full from the meat, I kept going back for more fried rice! Scraped the pan clean to the very end.

Coffee and mouthwash to finish the meal

After finishing the fried rice, we wrapped things up neatly with a cup of coffee and some mouthwash. By the way, Cham Dwaejitgan provides phone charging, hair ties, disposable aprons, clothing-storage bags, children's tableware, wifi, floss and toothpicks, mouthwash, palate-cleansing candy, and Febreze 🙌

In summary

Overall, this was a place where I could enjoy a well-rounded experience from the menu lineup to the flow of the meal 🤙 If you're looking for something a bit different from an ordinary samgyeopsal place, Cham Dwaejitgan should suit you especially well. If you're searching for a great Bucheon BBQ restaurant, I recommend putting Cham Dwaejitgan Bucheon Sinjung-dong Branch on your list!!!
