I really love samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) — but I prefer the thick-cut kind over thin "naeng-sam" slices, haha. I heard there's a great pork spot near my office, so I checked it out myself. This is Cheolsan Station's pork BBQ spot, Snug Roastery.
What kind of restaurant is Snug Roastery in Gwangmyeong?
Snug Roastery is a charcoal-grilled BBQ restaurant near Cheolsan Station in Gwangmyeong, open 24 hours. It's a great spot to stop by whenever a craving for pork belly hits, and it also works well as a company dinner spot near Cheolsan Station.

Snug Roastery menu and prices
The signature dishes at this charcoal BBQ specialist are the samok teukmokssal (premium pork jowl) and samok whole-scallion galmaegisal (skirt meat). Side dishes include pork kimchi jjigae, chadol dwenjang jjigae (beef brisket soybean paste stew), steamed egg, makguksu (buckwheat noodles), and griddle kimchi fried rice — a wide variety to choose from.

Of course, drinks you can't skip with meat — beer, soju, highballs, and cheongha — are all on the menu too.
If you visit before 6pm or book through Naver Reservation, they'll give you a free stew or makguksu, so check the terms and grab this little bonus, haha.
Seating inside and the weeknight wait at Cheolsan Station
The inside of Snug Roastery was clean, with round tables spaced out generously — perfect for a company dinner or family gathering near Cheolsan Station. We visited around 6pm on a weekday, and luckily there was no wait.

But by the time we finished eating and were heading out, customers were pouring in and the place got pretty crowded!! I guess it's really earned its reputation as a top pork BBQ spot near Cheolsan Station, haha.

There was convenient storage space under the chairs for coats and bags.
What a party of three ordered, plus the banchan
There were three of us, and we ordered 3 servings of samok teukmokssal (₩16,900 x 3), chadol dwenjang jjigae (₩7,000), griddle kimchi fried rice (₩5,000), and one bottle each of soju and beer (₩5,000 x 2).

Snug Roastery serves lettuce, scallion salad, sauces (ssamjang, salt, wasabi), kimchi, salted shrimp, garlic, and wild garlic leaves as banchan (side dishes) to go with the meat.

Cheers while waiting for the meat to grill
Samok teukmokssal: thick pork jowl grilled over charcoal by staff
Snug Roastery's samok teukmokssal is ₩16,900 per serving, and comes with mushrooms and shishito peppers ready to grill alongside.

When I searched before going, the meat already looked thick and delicious, but seeing it in person exceeded my expectations. The thickness lived up to its reputation as a top pork BBQ spot near Cheolsan Station, and grilling it over charcoal gave it that smoky flavor too.
At Snug Roastery, staff grill the meat for you as part of the service. Meat grilled by someone else really is the best, isn't it?!

Thanks to the staff grilling it so well, we could just relax and enjoy the meal. The heat was strong, so the meat cooked fast~~~

The moment we took the first bite, everyone in my family raved about how good it was!! The juices were practically dripping — easily the best pork I've had in a while.

It's also delicious dipped in the sauce with a pepper

and with scallion salad and shishito peppers, the spicy-tangy kick paired really well with the meat.

It was also delicious wrapped in lettuce with kimchi or scallion salad. Since it's teukmokssal with almost no fat, there's a nice clean flavor too — I'd definitely recommend it!!

It's no secret we ended up ordering 2 more servings because it was that good, haha.
Chadol dwenjang jjigae, 7,000 won
The chadol dwenjang jjigae was packed with tofu, enoki mushrooms, and beef brisket.

The savory dwenjang combined with the rich brisket was really great. Give me a bowl of rice and this would've disappeared in no time.
Finishing with griddle kimchi fried rice, 5,000 won
The table next to us was eating fried rice and enjoying it so much?! My parents saw that and immediately ordered the griddle kimchi fried rice.

The kimchi base here was delicious too, haha. The savoriness of the soft-boiled egg and seaweed flakes combined with the spicy kimchi fried rice made for the perfect finish after all that meat!

That last bite of kimchi fried rice with a piece of meat — unforgettable~~~~
Would I go back to Snug Roastery?
It was such a happy day, finding a great pork spot right near my office. Next time we have a company dinner near Cheolsan Station, I think I'll push for this place, haha. Do you like thick-cut pork?! I'd recommend Snug Roastery.
