Three pot rice lunch sets at Yeoyejeong, a Yangyang meat restaurant

Today I'm bringing you a meat restaurant recommendation in Yangyang — a pot rice lunch spot in Yangyang that's also great for group get-togethers. Coming right up in this review, haha!!

Where do you park at Yeoyejeong?

There's a dedicated parking space beside the restaurant, so I parked easily haha. If you're driving, keep this in mind!

Yeoyejeong's menu, from grilled meat to pot rice lunch specials

Yeoyejeong, a well-known meat restaurant in Yangyang, is famous for both pork — marinated galbi, fresh galbi, pork jowl, pork belly — and beef, like flower galbi and chuck flap tail, haha. Sides are also varied and good, from pot rice and steamed egg to banquet noodles, white kimchi noodles, and naengmyeon. It's great for dinner if you're after grilled meat, but the lunch special with pot rice is so well put together that it's also a great spot for lunch, which is when we visited haha.

Inside Yeoyejeong at 1pm on a Monday

After ordering, I took a walk around the inside. We visited just before 1pm on a Monday, so we could eat at a relaxed pace.

It's also famous as a lunch spot, so we timed it slightly off peak — many tables had already finished and left, so it was easy to enjoy at leisure.

The floor-to-ceiling windows gave a lovely natural view, and the hanok-style build made the interior feel really nice too. The staff were friendly and the space was clean, so we had a pleasant meal haha.

Four banchan (side dishes) are served as standard: stir-fried eggplant, cucumber kimchi, cabbage kimchi, and diced radish kimchi. Gangwon-do kimchi's clean, crisp flavor really stood out, and every side was fresh and delicious.

Kimchi jjigae pot rice: nearly double the usual serving of rice

First up, I ordered the kimchi jjigae pot rice lunch special, which comes with a meat-packed kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) alongside the pot rice haha.

The pot rice quality was genuinely great — the rice was so good, and the portion was enormous haha. It was nearly double the rice you'd get for one serving at a regular restaurant!

The rice was so good that even though I was full, I kept eating more of it — I really ate until I was stuffed. I wasn't even hungry by dinner, haha.

Once you scoop the rice out into a bowl, pour in hot water and close the lid, and you get scorched rice that's perfect as a dessert to finish the meal haha.

The kimchi jjigae came out piping hot, packed with tofu and various vegetables, so it wasn't heavy at all — clean and delicious.

It had a bit of a spicy kick, but even someone like me who's weak with spice found it deliciously spicy — I ate way too much, way too full.

There was plenty of meat and glass noodles in it too, so it was great to enjoy in different combinations alongside the rice.

Meat pot rice: marinated pork galbi with doenjang jjigae

We also ordered the meat pot rice haha. The meat pot rice comes with marinated pork galbi and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) together.

The pork galbi had absolutely no gamy smell, and it was tender and soft and delicious.

The marinade was sweet and savory and delicious, and pairing it with the chive salad they served alongside made it even better.

Galbitang pot rice: clear broth with a pinch of pepper

We ordered the galbitang (short rib soup) pot rice too haha. I asked for pepper to add to the galbitang pot rice, and it was even more delicious with it in, haha.

There was plenty of meat and it was tender, and the glass noodles added good texture too, but above all, the broth was genuinely clear and delicious. It felt like the kind of health food where drinking the broth alone makes you feel healthier haha.

To finish, I wrapped up a hearty meal with scorched rice at the end too haha.
