The biggest highlight of 1986 Shibuya Burger has to be the self-serve bar set up on one side of the restaurant — crispy potato chips are provided on an unlimited refill basis as standard.

On top of that, there were five kinds of sauce, disposable gloves, pickles, jalapeños, and even barley tea, all fully stocked so you could enjoy everything in different ways.

I was honestly touched to see they'd even thought to set out a refresh kit, candy, and vitamin C for after the meal — such thoughtful, considerate service from the owner.

We ordered the Shibuya Red Griddle Cheese Burger set, the new [NEW] Shibuya Grilled Shrimp Burger set, cheese sticks, and the Shibuya Ricotta Cheese Salad.

We started with the salad before the burgers — a generous amount of ricotta made it feel fresh and light.

The grilled shrimp burger has a really thick, plump shrimp patty, topped generously with corn mayo sauce that took the shrimp flavor to another level.

The shrimp texture was fantastic and the bun was super soft, so every bite burst with savoriness and bounce — anyone who loves shrimp burgers will definitely be back for this Hoegi spot.

Shibuya Red Griddle Cheese Burger

The Red Griddle Cheese Burger, the one I was most curious about, is cut in half and the cut side is pressed onto a hot griddle so cheese oozes out around the edges — the second I picked it up, the stretch of cheese stole the show.

Burger plus cheese can get a bit heavy, but the spicy signature Shibuya sauce inside balanced it out really well.

We dipped the fries and chips in sauces from the self-serve bar, and the cheese sticks were crispy with that long cheese pull — great as a side.
