Winter tteok-mandu-guk at Samiri Makguksu, a Bundang Korean restaurant
In short
Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch is a makguksu (buckwheat noodle) and dumpling restaurant on the first floor of The Plaza near Migeum Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. After shopping with her mom at the outlet by Migeum Station, the writer ordered the winter seasonal tteok-mandu-guk (rice cake and dumpling soup) and kal-mandu-guk (knife-cut noodle and dumpling soup) with a half plate of crispy fried dumplings, and the broth was clean and mild rather than salty, which her mom liked too. On a day that calls for a warm Korean soup, the dumpling soups at Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch are a good fit.

After shopping with my mom near Migeum Station, we went for lunch at Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch, a Korean restaurant near Migeum Station.

Where is Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch, and what are the hours?
Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch is located at 36-5 Migeum-illo 90beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, The Plaza 1F Unit 109. Hours are 11:00–20:00, with last order at 19:30.

There's parking available, but since we were shopping, we parked at the outlet near Migeum Station and walked over.
It was close to Migeum Station so it was easy to find, and the interior was clean and tidy, which made it a comfortable place for a meal with my mom.

Above all, the owner was so kind—from the moment we walked in until we finished lunch, I was in a good mood the whole time :) I came looking for a good Korean restaurant near Migeum Station, and the menu was more satisfying than I expected.
The menu at Samiri Makguksu and what we ordered
Menu

Makguksu (buckwheat noodles) is the main dish here, but since we wanted something warm that day, we ordered the winter-season tteok-mandu-guk (rice cake and dumpling soup) and kal-mandu-guk (noodle and dumpling soup), plus a half plate of crispy fried dumplings.

Buckwheat tea and two house-made kimchi side dishes
The water was replaced with warm, nutty buckwheat tea, and it was genuinely delicious—I kept drinking it even while eating the mandu-guk.

Kimchi, an essential part of any Korean meal, was also great here. Napa cabbage kimchi and yeolmu (young radish) kimchi came as complimentary side dishes, both made by the owner herself, which really tasted like homemade kimchi while staying clean and refreshing. The napa cabbage kimchi had a crisp texture and a well-fermented, refreshing taste—eating a spoonful of the warm tteok-mandu-guk together with it really brought out the mild flavor of the broth.

The yeolmu kimchi was cool and crisp too, and paired well with the noodles and dumplings. Overall it had a clean, refreshing taste that went well with the food. When even the basic side dishes are this good, it really raises how satisfied you feel eating at a Korean restaurant, and that was exactly the case this day.

How is the half plate of crispy fried dumplings?
It felt like a waste to only order soup dishes, so we added a half plate of crispy fried dumplings too. The golden-brown fried dumplings had a crispy outside and a moist inside—biting in, you could feel both the crispy dumpling wrapper and the soft, packed filling together, which made for a great texture.

They're delicious just dipped in soy sauce, but I especially liked alternating between them and the warm mandu-guk broth. The mild broth and the savory, crispy dumplings complemented each other really well.

And the fried dumplings were so packed with filling that even eating just a few felt surprisingly filling.

The kal-mandu-guk and tteok-mandu-guk we had for lunch near Migeum Station—just looking at them, they're hearty bowls.

Tteok-mandu-guk: mild broth and dumplings that taste hand-folded
First, the tteok-mandu-guk was a hearty bowl just to look at, with plenty of rice cake and dumplings in a hot broth. From the first sip, the broth wasn't harshly salty or heavy—it was mild, clean, and refreshing. As you kept eating, a subtle savoriness came through, but without a strong artificial seasoning taste, which was genuinely delicious.

The rice cakes weren't mushy or overcooked—they had just the right chewiness, and went down smoothly with the warm broth.

And what I liked most was that the dumplings didn't taste like the usual mass-produced kind—they had a mild flavor that felt handmade. The wrapper wasn't too thick, with just the right chewiness, and the filling was packed so full that you could really feel it in each bite.

With the mild filling soaked in warm broth, the dumplings were delicious even eaten alone, and paired well with the rice cakes too. So if you're looking for a good Korean restaurant near Migeum Station, try the mandu-guk (dumpling soup) menu too.

Kal-mandu-guk: knife-cut noodles and dumplings in one bowl
Next, the kal-mandu-guk has knife-cut noodles instead of rice cake, which made it great for slurping up with the broth. The noodles weren't overcooked—they had just the right springiness, so there was also a nice chew to them.

The hot broth soaked well into the noodles, so every bite came with that mild, refreshing broth flavor too. Combined with the plump dumplings, this one bowl alone was quite filling.

I especially liked that you could enjoy noodles and dumplings together in one dish, getting a variety of textures from just a single menu item. My mom was satisfied too, saying the broth was clean and the dumplings were tasty, which made me happy as well. When looking for a good Korean restaurant near Migeum Station, a hot broth dish like this really is the best!

Final thoughts after lunch with mom at Samiri Makguksu
Makguksu is the main dish here, but the tteok-mandu-guk, kal-mandu-guk, and fried dumplings we tried this day were all mild and clean, making this a good place to visit on a day when you're craving warm Korean food. If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant near Migeum Station, try the warm mandu-guk menu, not just the makguksu. Next time, I should try Samiri Makguksu's signature makguksu dish too.
If you're near Migeum Station looking for a good Korean restaurant on a day when you're craving warm broth and dumplings, I recommend Samiri Makguksu Migeum Branch!
