In short

Gochang Pungcheon Eel is a grilled eel restaurant near Sangdong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. I tried staff-grilled salt and soy sauce eel with rinsed kimchi and wraps, and the quiet interior, group tables, and terrace seating stood out. Verdict: a great-looking choice for dinners and group gatherings in Bucheon.

A quiet grilled eel restaurant near Sangdong Station

Feeling low on energy lately? How about nourishing yourself with eel? This is Gochang Pungcheon Eel, a grilled-eel spot with a clean interior where they grill the eel for you! It is a five-minute walk from Exit 7 of Sangdong Station!

The interior is incredibly neat too. Grilled-eel restaurants can often be noisy and hectic, but this one felt quiet and refined, so I thought it would be nice for bringing guests along!

There are six-person tables and slightly separated seats farther inside, so it looked great not only for dates but also family gatherings, company dinners, and all kinds of group get-togethers!

There is seating on the outdoor terrace too, so it would be great for that outdoor-drinking vibe!! Terrace season has arrived...

I visited with a reservation, and they even put a card with my name on the table like this. It is a small thing, but details like that make you feel good!

Grilled eel and side dishes

Here is the menu at Gochang Pungcheon Eel. Since it is a grilled-eel restaurant, salt-grilled, gochujang-grilled, and soy sauce-grilled eel are the mains, while there were lots of eel dishes on the side menu too, including eel soup, eel rice bowls, and eel stone-pot rice!

These are the banchan (Korean side dishes), including fried eel bones. Rinsed kimchi, pickled radish wraps, perilla-leaf pickles, green onion kimchi, ginger, and more all came out neatly!

You can get refills at the self-serve bar too! There were wrap vegetables such as lettuce and perilla leaves, which made eating grilled eel so nice!

The first thing served was eel porridge. It was soft with a lovely eel aroma, so it seemed like a great appetizer for eel lovers!!

Steamed egg came as part of the basics too. What a very likable restaurant.......... Softttt... warmmmm... As I happily munched away and waited!

Well-heated charcoal arrives! The heat stayed gently steady, and the fire was still going by the time we finished and left!

Watching the salt and soy sauce eel get grilled

Right away, the salt-grilled and soy sauce-grilled eel I ordered came out. Can you see how plump the eel looked...

Salt-grilled and soy sauce-grilled eel

They first showed us the whole eel, then cut it beside us into easy-to-eat pieces. It felt like they were showing me exactly what I was about to devour, which was funny but also made me excited!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha

Isn't this insane?

They grilled it so smoothly with incredible hand movements. It was so, so, so convenient because they did all the grilling and I did not have to lift a finger!!!! The eel turned golden in no time!!!! They kept watching over it so it would not burn at all. Their wrist flick was no joke, so I watched in admiration haha

Perfectly grilled eel!!!! They cooked the flavors separately so they would not mix, and cut it into just the right bite-size pieces.

The fully cooked eel goes to the side! They moved it away from the fire so it would not burn. They grilled shishito peppers alongside it too, making the visual even better....!

Eating eel with rinsed kimchi and wraps

The eel finally made it into my mouth! Wow, the texture was legendary. So plump, chewy, and bouncy... It was so delicious even simply dipped in sauce ㅜㅜ

And when I ate it with rinsed kimchi, it cleansed my palate so perfectly that I felt like I could eat forever... I had two whole bowls of that kimchi.

And you know it is seriously, seriously delicious wrapped in a perilla leaf with seasoned chives too.......... You are supposed to pile in tons of ginger as well, but I have a kid's palate, so I passed haha

What else does someone with a kid's palate need? A bowl of rice, obviously... hahahahahahaha Put a spoonful of rice into a wrap, and before you know it, you will be looking at an empty rice bowl...

I properly recharged at this great eel restaurant in Bucheon! If you are looking for a company-dinner spot or delicious eel in Sangdong, Bucheon, I recommennnnnd it!!!!
