Gwanak café for latte and vanilla lemon yogurt: Pulse Line Coffee
In short
Pulse Line Coffee is a café tucked inside Sharosu-gil in Gwanak, Seoul, between Seoul National University Station and Nakseongdae Station. The writer tried the nutty, smooth café latte, the Bareyo vanilla lemon yogurt and the brûlée pie, and liked the sweet smell of desserts made in-house and the modern space. Pulse Line Coffee is one to recommend for a day when you want a not-sweet coffee alongside a sweet brûlée pie.

A nutty latte and a sweet handmade pie
A real latte hotspot, with a sweet handmade vanilla cream cheese brûlée pie to match
The regular latte is especially, seriously delicious, so you have to try it. Have it with the signature handmade crème brûlée pie and the sweet pie will lift your mood too.

Location inside Sharosu-gil and how to get there
It's tucked inside Sharosu-gil, right about halfway between Seoul National University Station and Nakseongdae Station. About an 8-minute walk? The 650 and 6515 buses stop right nearby, so I'd recommend that route too.

Facing the shop, the entrance is off to the right.
Opening hours
They're open every day of the year. Weekdays (Mon–Fri) 08:00–20:00, weekends (Sat–Sun) 09:00–20:00.
Signature menu and desserts made in-house
The signature items are the coffees Line Spänner (an Einspänner-style coffee) and Pulsenal Latte, and the desserts crumble pie and brûlée pie.

Besides those, there are all sorts of drinks like flat white, vanilla latte, yogurt, ades (Korean-style fruit sodas) and milk tea.

They make the desserts right here too, so the café had a faint, sweet smell of baking, which I just loved.

Interestingly, they have a membership program, so you can earn points.

Nutty, smooth café latte
The café latte is genuinely delicious. It's nutty with a hint of acidity, deep in flavor and smooth.

My mom, universally acknowledged latte-hotspot radar that she is, said it was delicious haha

I tasted it too and it really was smooth and nutty. And the latte art is sooo pretty. Next time I'd like to try the signature latte. That one seemed a bit on the sweet side.
Bareyo, best stirred well
I had the Bareyo (vanilla lemon yogurt). The vanilla aroma and flavor were milder than I expected, but the lemon yogurt was smooth and tasty.

There's vanilla syrup at the bottom, so you need to stir it well. The vanilla came through subtly, which was new and delicious.
Brûlée pie that reminds me of an egg tart
The brûlée pie has a taste that reminds you of an egg tart. The filling is dense, almost like a firm pudding, and you can clearly taste the cream cheese and vanilla. And maybe because there's lemon zest sprinkled on top, it was a bit like a lemon pie too. The pie base underneath is very sweet, so I think it'd go well with a coffee that isn't sweet.

A dark space with red accents
The inside of the café is clean. It's a dark base with red accents, which gives it a modern feel.

Honestly, I tend to only go to cafés I already know, so it probably wouldn't be easy to seek out a café like this on your own.

It feels so good every time I succeed at finding a great coffee spot like this. Like landing on the moon ~3~/

The cute little props in the shop...☆ Oh right, the owner was friendly too.
The meaning behind the name Pulse Line
You know the pulse line, that beep-beep-beep you see in hospitals, the heartbeat shown as an electrical signal. But!! At Pulse Line Coffee, they see the whole process, from the moment the coffee is roasted to making every dessert, as connected by a single line.

Breathing a pulse into the process... it's a metaphor for passion! That's how much? They're serious about coffee~ that's what it means.
