Daejeon café for garlic cream cheese salt bread: Frank Coffee Bar

Today I visited Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch, already so famous in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon for its atmosphere and delicious desserts! I heard it had just completed a full interior refresh, so I went straight over—and the café was much bigger, with an even more upscale feel. Above all, the bread selection, especially the salt bread lineup, has become so much more varied that it feels even more like heaven for dessert lovers~😃

In Dunsan-dong’s hot-spot district—what about parking?

It is right in the heart of Dunsan-dong’s popular district in Daejeon, so it is really easy to find! It is close to Galleria and Dunsan E-Mart.

As you know, this area is incredibly difficult for parking...😭 If you are driving, the building’s underground lot is small, so I recommend checking it first, then using the paid street parking right in front of the café for peace of mind!

Luckily, I visited at an in-between afternoon hour and there were plenty of spaces, so I parked straight away and came up the stairs.

A roomier vintage European-style space after the renewal

It was already one of Dunsan-dong’s signature atmospheric cafés, always full of people, but after the recent renewal the space has become larger and the mood feels even richer.

As soon as I stepped inside, the classic, vintage European feel in warm wood tones caught my eye. The renewal has also made the table spacing and seating arrangement much roomier, so it is much nicer for lingering over a chat or visiting with a group too..💛

There are truly so many more kinds of bread than before. In particular, the number of salt breads has increased enormously!

but I was so full that day, so with tears in my eyes I saved it for next time... Next time, definitely! 🥹

After the happily difficult decision of what to eat, we ordered two kinds of salt bread and two drinks!

The desserts and drinks, bursting with atmosphere even at first glance, arrived neatly arranged on a tray.

First up was the “jambon arugula salt bread”! The nutty salt bread was generously filled with fresh, pleasantly bitter arugula and savory jambon, so I enjoyed it almost like a sandwich.

The combination of the crisp outside, moist inside of the salt bread and the fillings was so good. It was satisfying not only as a snack but also as a meal replacement!!!

Next was the “garlic cream cheese salt bread,” which I ordered because I was drawn in by the garlic aroma. I really want to recommend this one!

The outside of the salt bread was generously coated in a sweet, pleasantly pungent garlic-mayo sauce, while the inside was packed with nutty, soft cream cheese. The moment I took a bite, the rich flavors of garlic and cream cheese filled my mouth—it was seriously delicious, and I was impressed...👍

Apple mint tea and Caffè Albero

Of course I know the coffee is famous, but I wanted something refreshing with the bread, so I ordered the “apple mint tea.” It is a refined blended tea with a subtle sweetness and refreshing mint aroma that work beautifully together!

What is more, it was full of little chewy bits, a bit like Coco Palm, and that poppy texture was so delicious too haha

Lastly, this is a famous espresso bar, right? So I tried “Caffè Albero,” one of its signature espresso drinks!

It is served with sugar as standard, so if you would prefer it less sweet, let them know when ordering and they can leave it out. The pleasant bitterness of the cocoa powder sprinkled generously on top blends with the deep, dark espresso flavor. It leaves a rich finish, so coffee lovers should definitely try it.

Frank Coffee Bar Daejeon Dunsan Branch has been freshly redone into an even more upscale and spacious place!
