Sokcho Korean restaurant takeout: Hwangbuja Twigim squid sundae
In short
Hwangbuja Twigim is a Korean restaurant inside Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market in Sokcho, Gangwon. While choosing food to take back to my accommodation from Sokcho Jungang Market, I stopped by Hwangbuja Twigim. This time, I packed two kinds of squid sundae and king prawn tempura.

Where is Hwangbuja Twigim, and can I get a parking voucher?
Hwangbuja Twigim is inside Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market. The address shown on the attached map is 16 Jungang-ro 147beon-gil, Units 26 and 27 in the market. According to the original post, purchases of ₩15,000 or more come with a 30-minute parking voucher.

What else is on the menu besides squid sundae?
Besides king prawn tempura and squid tempura, there were fried red snow crab meat, nude shrimp, and baby crab.

The sundae options included squid sundae, Abai sundae, and nurungji squid sundae. There was also kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake), gamja jeon (potato pancake), buckwheat pancake, buckwheat jeonbyeong (stuffed buckwheat crepe), and susubukkumi (pan-fried sorghum cake), so there was a wide range to choose from.

There were several things I wanted to eat, so I spent quite a while looking over the menu.

What should I order to try both kinds of squid sundae?
There were set menus that let you try several items together.

My younger sibling wanted squid sundae, so I asked a staff member for a menu recommendation.

Even while busy, they explained the options kindly, which made it easy to choose. I ordered the recommended Set No. 11 and added king prawn tempura à la carte.

Set No. 11 includes squid sundae and nurungji squid sundae.

I wanted regular squid sundae but was also curious about the nurungji squid sundae, so I was happy that I did not have to choose just one.

How do regular and nurungji squid sundae differ in texture?
The regular squid sundae had a generous filling inside chewy squid. Its lightly browned surface paired with the soft, moist interior for a nutty flavor.
The nurungji squid sundae was cooked until its exterior was crisp like nurungji (scorched rice). Its outer layer was much crispier than the regular squid sundae, and the nutty flavor came through more strongly. Alternating between the two made the textural difference clear.

How was the king prawn tempura ordered alongside it?
I ordered the king prawn tempura separately from the set.

The crisp batter enclosed plump prawn meat. It had that springy shrimp texture when I took a bite, and it made the meal feel more substantial alongside the squid sundae.
Does a long line mean a long wait for takeout?
When I visited, the line was fairly long, so I was worried about the wait. The staff organized orders quickly and packed the food efficiently, so I did not wait as long as the line suggested. I did not record the exact waiting time.

Was it still good after a 30-minute trip to the accommodation?
It took about 30 minutes to get from the market to my accommodation after packing the food. I worried it would cool down during the trip, but when I opened it on arrival, it still retained some warmth.
It was easy to spread out and eat comfortably at the accommodation. With Set No. 11, I could try both kinds of squid sundae and add king prawn tempura, making it a good spread to share among several people as a travel snack or late-night food at the accommodation.
