Yangjae Korean dining course with hanwoo striploin upgrade: MUSEO

In short

MUSEO is a Korean fine dining restaurant near Yangjae Station Exit 2 in Seocho, Seoul. The dinner tasting course (₩109,000 per person) with a hanwoo striploin upgrade (+₩38,000) ran from a Shinan green onion tart to hanwoo tteokgalbi, sea urchin gim pesto buckwheat noodles, and makgeolli ice cream. Even a companion who isn't a big Korean food fan was won over — a great pick for wedding invitation gatherings or anniversary dates.

An honest review of MUSEO's dinner course — even my friend who isn't a big fan of Korean food was blown away.

Today I'm bringing you my review of the dinner course at MUSEO in Yangjae, which I visited because I wanted a really good dinner somewhere with a great atmosphere after a long while.

To cut to the chase — today's number one was… ♥️ from the hanwoo tteokgalbi (Korean beef short rib patty) all the way to the seriously delicious closing ice cream 🫶🏼 (plus the hanwoo striploin main upgrade!). I finished the meal amazed at every single course — a genuine spot I'd love to come back to.

Where MUSEO is and its hours — an easy find in Gangnam

MUSEO is a sophisticated Korean dining restaurant that reinterprets Korean cuisine in a modern way, centered on seasonal ingredients.

French-Korean? I'd call it Korean-French! It's walkable from Yangjae Station Exit 2, and being away from the busier heart of Gangnam, it was easy to enjoy at a relaxed pace.

The room and bar seating — good for Gangnam wedding invitation gatherings too

The interior is a calm, sophisticated black tone with a quiet mood.

The black-toned interior of MUSEO

It's in the basement — which gives it a bit of a hideout feel, but being underground didn't mean poor ventilation at all. The main space has a long bar table that seemed great for a date or drinking solo, and there's also a separate room with its own table.

It wasn't noisy, so it was easy to focus on the food and conversation — and in fact there were people in the room having a wedding invitation gathering, so it's a great spot for that too.

The ₩109,000 dinner tasting course — what actually comes out

We reserved ahead and enjoyed the dinner tasting course (₩109,000 per person).

When we sat down, a course menu with our names on it was already waiting — it felt special from the very start. Next to us, someone was having a birthday dinner, and apparently MUSEO in Yangjae gives out a little something extra for birthdays too… 🫶🏼 Especially notable: my partner, who isn't usually a huge fan of Korean food, was amazed at every single moment of this course — the reinterpretation of Korean cuisine was that good.

The start: Shinan green onion tart

We started light with a Shinan green onion tart. Ahh… why do green onion and cheese go together so well 💛

First moment of amazement: steamed egg and seafood mulhoe

The steamed egg is a familiar ingredient, but it felt completely different from the usual Korean-style version — I was surprised from the very first course.

MUSEO's steamed egg topped with anchovies

Crunchy little anchovies added texture, while the egg itself was soft and fluffy, Japanese-style — the balance of textures was really good! The seafood mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) had sweet shrimp and sea squirt in it, refreshing enough that I basically drank it down.

And dill, which I love so much — a spoonful of exotic aroma in the mulhoe!

Meat cravings satisfied: hanwoo tteokgalbi

MUSEO's hanwoo tteokgalbi served with doenjang mustard sauce

This course alone was already enough to satisfy my craving for meat, thanks to how well it worked with the sauce. Doenjang mustard sauce? This is so good 🫶🏼

Steamed Spanish mackerel, truffle fries, and uni gim pesto buckwheat noodles

Steamed Spanish mackerel, truffle fries, and gim pesto (seaweed pesto) buckwheat noodles topped with sea urchin kept coming — a series of dishes making great use of Korean ingredients.

(I really wish the uni buckwheat noodles and the steamed mackerel were also available as standalone dishes 👍🏻) Yet another set of dishes that made me want to come back.

Wine pairing and a complimentary glass of champagne

A glass of MUSEO's wine pairing

I ordered a non-alcoholic wine, and my partner had a red wine. One glass per person was required for dinner — so glad they had a non-alcoholic option!

But of course, nothing beats the real thing… ^^ The red wine, paired glass by glass with the course, went perfectly with the food — with a lineup like this, the dinner pairing course (₩51,000) was very tempting.

Midway through the course, we also got to try a complimentary glass of sparkling champagne.

Plus, the chef at MUSEO explains the wine so well 👍🏻

The hanwoo striploin main upgrade (+₩38,000) — how does it compare to the chicken thigh?

For the main dish that closes out the course, we could choose between chicken thigh or hanwoo striploin. We paid the extra ₩38,000 to upgrade to hanwoo striploin.

The upgraded hanwoo striploin main dish at MUSEO

We were already full of meat from the hanwoo tteokgalbi, so it was fine, but the upgraded beef portion wasn't very large — a slight downside. That said, the quality and flavor of the meat itself were excellent.

Honestly though, the chicken thigh left a stronger impression on me^^ Chicken grilled in pork fat has out-of-this-world savoriness 👍🏻🫶🏼 Paired with mung bean rice and grilled green onion kimchi? Pure happiness dopamine ♥️

The finish: makgeolli ice cream

After finishing a meal I was amazed by from start to finish, the closing dessert was perfect too. Makgeolli (rice wine) ice cream… a flavor that makes you want to shamelessly ask for an encore (of course, I kept my composure haha).

Frequently asked questions

Is it good for a Gangnam wedding invitation gathering?

Yes — there's a separate room, and the atmosphere is quiet, so I'd strongly recommend it as a Gangnam restaurant for wedding invitation gatherings. There actually were guests there for that exact purpose, and since it's a course meal, there's no need to fuss over ordering, leaving more room to focus on conversation.

Is parking available?

I was told I'd get 1 hour of parking support at the time of my visit. Parking space and support conditions may change, so it's best to check with the restaurant before visiting.

How's the quality and price of the dinner course?

The dinner tasting course is ₩109,000 per person, which is reasonable for fine dining in Gangnam — and when you factor in the food quality, atmosphere, and service, it's great value. Every course was delicious from start to finish.

Overall verdict: a genuine favorite I'd revisit even just for lunch

A quiet spot in Gangnam with a great-vibe Korean course meal — this is a place where it's worth enjoying the space and service, not just the food. Whether you're looking for a nice Gangnam course-meal date, a quiet wedding invitation gathering, or a place to treat your parents to a meal, I'd strongly recommend MUSEO.

I went for dinner this time, but I liked the food so much that next time I definitely want to come back — even just for the lunch course, whether that's the baekban (Korean set meal, ₩32,000) or the premium baekban (₩49,000). A genuine favorite I'd love to revisit.
