Today I'm sharing my visit to a Daegu mungtigi (Korean-style beef tartare) spot, Bonghwa Saenggogi.

I usually love raw beef and was looking for a good place to try it, so I stopped by. I was satisfied since I could enjoy fresh raw beef, yukjeon, and plenty of side dishes all together.

There was also plenty of parking space, so it was convenient to visit by car.
The exterior and atmosphere of Bonghwa Saenggogi Bonjeom
Bonghwa Saenggogi Bonjeom is located on Guam-ro60-gil in Buk-gu, Daegu, and the entrance, reminiscent of a traditional Korean hanok gate, catches your eye right away. The exterior was impressive from the start.

The hanok-gate-style entrance is topped with a blue tiled roof and a red awning, so it stands out even from a distance.

Walking inside, the wooden interior combined with soft stained-glass lighting created a warm, cozy atmosphere.

Here and there you'll spot retro touches like old-fashioned snack ad boards or pharmacy-style signs, plus cute decorations that made it fun just to look around.

There are also separated private-room-style seats, which seemed good for family meals, gatherings, or company dinners. They're also running a receipt review event, so worth noting.

The wording is so funny haha.
Raw beef big plate, garlic sauce and sesame oil dip
That day at Bonghwa Saenggogi, I ordered the raw beef big plate and yukjeon. The dish I was most looking forward to was, of course, the raw beef.

The raw beef, piled generously on the plate, looked fresh just from the color.
Tasting it, the texture was chewy yet tender, and the more I chewed, the more the beef's clean savory flavor came through.
Since raw beef isn't grilled or cooked, freshness matters more than anything.
The beef had enough tackiness that it barely shifted even when I tilted the plate, which made the freshness obvious just by looking.
I dipped a piece in the garlic sauce that came with it. The sharp garlic aroma and savory taste brought out the raw beef's flavor even more.
Eaten with the sesame oil dip that came alongside the raw liver and tripe, it was also incredibly savory and delicious.

If you're looking for a mungtigi spot in Daegu, I think this is worth visiting at least once.
How was the yukjeon we ordered together
The yukjeon (pan-fried beef) we ordered alongside the raw beef was also unforgettable.

The thinly sliced beef, coated in egg and pan-fried to a golden brown, had a great texture — savory on the outside and moist inside.
Dipped lightly in soy sauce, the salty savoriness added another layer, offering a different charm from the raw beef.
Piece by piece, the plate emptied surprisingly fast. I was glad we ordered both the raw beef and the yukjeon together.
The generous service menu and side dishes
Bonghwa Saenggogi didn't just impress with the main dishes — the accompanying spread was varied too.

From sweet-and-spicy tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) to hearty sigeumchi-guk (soup), savory cabbage pancake, and a sunny-side-up egg, it was fun trying a little of everything.
The side dishes were also quite generous — tuna salad, grilled sausages, gimbap, boiled squid, and more filled the table.

The soup especially was warm and hearty, great for sipping between bites of raw beef and yukjeon, and overall it felt cozy, like a home-cooked meal.
In-room fridge and drinks
The private room at Bonghwa Saenggogi had its own fridge, so we could grab drinks right away.

The in-room fridge was stocked not just with soju and beer but also cheongha and bokbunja (raspberry wine), making it easy to have a light drink alongside the food.

The staff were friendly too, which made the meal even more pleasant.
To sum up
Overall, Bonghwa Saenggogi was a Daegu mungtigi spot where I could enjoy fresh raw beef, savory yukjeon, and generous side dishes all at once.
The chewy texture of the raw beef paired with the sharp garlic sauce especially stuck with me, and the well-rounded service menu made the meal feel complete.
If you're looking for a mungtigi spot in Daegu, Bonghwa Saenggogi could be a solid choice. If you love raw beef, it's worth a visit. I'd like to come back next time to try the course menu :)
