The thick, fresh Jeju pork had a savory juiciness and a crisp texture that had me sighing in delight from the very first bite~~ And then the seasoned ribs and pork noodle soup I ordered right after got demolished in a storm of eating!!

I'd been craving thick, fresh Jeju black pork after a while, so while looking for a good samgyeopsal (pork belly) spot around Gwangalli, I ended up at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi, located in Suyeong-gu near Gwangan subway station. Digging around, I found other reviews calling it a hidden gem~~ so I went with a fluttering heart. ^^ For those moments when you miss the food you ate on a Jeju trip — turns out you don't even need to fly there. Haha.

Where is Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi, and how do you walk there from Gwangan Station?

Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi, a Suyeong-gu favorite, sits just off the main road, tucked into this quiet little alley. Follow this sign and you'll arrive right away. Even though it's in an alley, it's a wide main alley, so finding it was really easy. ^^

As soon as I walked in, the owner greeted me warmly and kindly, which made for a great start to the meal~!

Menu board listing seasoned ribs and black pork belly

There's a diverse lineup of Jeju-related dishes — seasoned ribs, fresh raw ribs, pork belly, black pork belly, Jeju bracken, Jeju pork noodle soup, Jeju pork kimchi jjigae, Jeju beer, and more — plus plenty of basic meal items and side dishes like rice, jangchi noodles, naengmyeon (cold noodles), and doenjang (soybean paste soup) too!

The restaurant's origin labeling board and certification signs

Looking at the origin labeling board, I really felt like I'd found the right place. The kimchi, chili powder, and rice are all domestic, and the pork carries an official Jeju pork restaurant certification along with a hygiene-safe restaurant certification.

Cross-ordering black pork belly for two plus seasoned ribs for one

I ordered black pork belly, seasoned ribs, rice, pork noodle soup, and a whiskey highball. Meat orders start at 3 servings minimum on the first order, and you don't have to fill it with just one type — you can mix and cross-order different cuts. ^^ We went with 2 servings of black pork belly and 1 serving of seasoned ribs, and thoroughly enjoyed this Gwangan Korean BBQ spot. Haha.

The thick cuts of meat, mushrooms, and myeoljeot all go on the grill together.

Getting golden brown~~ Thanks to the thickness, the meat stays juicy and moist as it cooks.

Side dishes and the Jeju bracken egg pancake

The basic side spread was already substantial — lettuce, perilla leaves for wraps, sauces, pastes, rapeseed kimchi, sweet-and-tangy scallion salad, onions in soy sauce, pickled cucumber, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), soft tofu, and more, all generous and varied. Among them, the Jeju bracken egg pancake stood out — wow, this was hands down the best bracken I've ever eaten. It couldn't have been chewier. Not a single tough or stringy bite, and for a second I genuinely thought I was eating meat.

Can you see how crisp the skin got? A golden-brown Jeju black pork visual straight out of this Gwangan Korean BBQ spot! I wanted to eat it the second I took the photo. Haha.

Oh! Also, I thought it was really thoughtful of the owner to keep bringing out the ordered meat one right after another without a gap~~ Can't let the momentum break, haha.

A bite of thick, tender meat, then a sip of refreshing, crisp whiskey highball. Truly the perfect combo~!

Once the meat is cooked, you can eat it however suits your taste — with the side dishes, stacked up in a wrap, plain to enjoy the clean, savory flavor, or dipped deep into sauce. I dipped mine into the simmering myeoljeot I always love, and got a mouthful of flavor — oh man... that's it...! Salty with deep, deep umami, and completely free of any fishy taste, just fresh and clean. Turns out this place's myeoljeot is a hit in its own right too. Haha. The rapeseed kimchi was amazing too! Eating the black pork belly with its harmony of tender lean meat and chewy skin, I could tell right away this place was on a different level — I fell for it from the very start. +.+

How sweet are the seasoned ribs at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi?

We started off clean with the raw meat, then began round two with the seasoned ribs. The sweetness wasn't overdone — just the right balance of salty-sweet umami, perfectly balanced. And the meat itself was tender, with no dryness at all. These are refined, tender seasoned ribs from a Gwangalli favorite that even people who dislike overly sweet sauces would genuinely enjoy. The moment I tasted it, I wanted so many people to try it too~~ I want to recommend it with all my heart. Haha!

Finishing with Jeju pork noodle soup

Rich, milky-white bone broth loaded with meat — the special Jeju pork noodle soup makes its appearance! They also brought out salted shrimp so I could adjust the seasoning to my taste.

Jeju pork noodle soup loaded with meat

Usually with meat bone broth, you might worry a bit about heaviness, right? But here, honestly, there wasn't a hint of gamy smell — it just wraps around your mouth with a clean, light flavor. Pure and simple. I'm someone who's pretty picky about soup dishes, especially meat bone broths, and I was genuinely surprised at how clean this was — a satisfying slurp all around~ Haha.

Pork noodle soup broth seasoned with salted shrimp and thin noodles

With the broth lightly seasoned with salted shrimp, slurping up the thin noodles along with soft, thick chunks of meat, there's no heaviness at all despite the rich bone broth — it actually leaves your palate feeling clean and settled. A real Gwangalli favorite.

Tucked away in a quiet alley, this place has the owner's care evident in everything from the meat quality to the side dishes, and the food was all delicious, plus the staff were so kind that I honestly, personally, sincerely hope this place becomes a huge hit! It's close to the subway, so getting there by public transit is convenient, and there's free parking for about 2–3 cars right in front of the restaurant.

After filling up happily on great meat and other dishes, if you keep walking down the alley, you'll reach Gwangalli Beach directly, so this works great for a family outing with kids, a date, or a group gathering. If you're planning a trip to Gwangalli Beach or find yourself craving a good Gwangan Korean BBQ spot in Suyeong, I'm planning to come back again soon.
