Order 1 serving each of pork belly and skirt meat: Sangnok Hoegwan
In short
Sangnok Hoegwan Yeontan Gui Goseong Branch is a charcoal-grill restaurant near Bukgucheong Station in Buk-gu, Daegu that serves seafood alongside beef and pork. The writer ordered samgyeop baebatji-sal (pork belly rib-fat cut), galmaegi-sal (pork skirt meat), cheese scallops and grilled octopus, all in single-serving portions, plus radish salad and seafood ramyeon. Being able to order just one serving of each dish while mixing meat and seafood at the same table made this a place worth returning to.

Today I'm introducing Sangnok Hoegwan Yeontan Gui Goseong Branch! It's located near Bukgucheong Station, and Citizens' Stadium and Daegu iM Bank Park are both nearby too.
Sangnok Hoegwan sells seafood and meat together — and since shrimp is in season these days, they also serve salt-grilled shrimp, so keep that in mind!!

Inside Sangnok Hoegwan — good for groups?
The inside of Sangnok Hoegwan has a lot of tables, so it seemed great for company dinners, gatherings, or club meetups too!!

Sangnok Hoegwan's menu lineup
Sangnok Hoegwan is a meat restaurant that sells seafood alongside beef and pork all together — and places like that are really rare, right? As someone who loves both seafood and meat, this place is exactly my kind of spot ••😍 They have a menu sold by the geun (traditional unit, about 600g) of pork, and if you want to order separately, there's a really wide variety of pork cuts too — samgyeopsal, mokssal (pork neck), galmaegi-sal, ap-sal (pressed pork belly), ogyeop ap-sal, hangjeong mokssal, samgyeop baebatji-sal, and more. On top of that, they also sell a variety of beef cuts like LA-style short ribs, sogalbi-sal (beef rib meat), beef heart, and beef large intestine — I loved that! For seafood, there's scallop, abalone, cheese scallops, and grilled octopus to choose from — it was fun picking what to order‼️
Also, if you write a receipt review, you can get either doenjang jjigae or hangover ramyeon — so writing a review before you eat is a good move, right?!

Side dishes and the self-serve bar
Every table had charcoal like in the first photo, and the side dishes — seasoned bean sprouts, kimchi, pickled onions, wrap radish, green onion salad, wrap vegetables, and even marshmallows to grill — were all really well put together!

And Sangnok Hoegwan's kick is...... this radish salad right here!! This radish salad was so good, I still think about it •• 🤤

You can grab any side dishes you run out of from the self-serve bar!
And since it's a meat restaurant that also sells seafood, there was a fish tank too — and the seafood in the tank looked so healthy that I could eat with peace of mind‼️

For starters we ordered samgyeop baebatji-sal, galmaegi-sal, and cheese scallops! *You can order just one serving at a time, so feel free to order whatever you want to eat 🤩
Cheese scallops and samgyeop baebatji-sal, grilled over charcoal
First the cheese scallops came out along with the samgyeop baebatji-sal and galmaegi-sal! The visuals on the cheese scallops were truly insane •• 😍 Being able to eat seafood at a meat restaurant makes me so happy 🫰🏻

The scallops were so fresh they were still moving right up until we grilled them.. Sorry, scallops. But meat and seafood grilled over charcoal just can't be bad!!

Samgyeop baebatji-sal has more of the fatty part compared to regular pork belly, but it wasn't greasy at all — the fat was so savory it was incredibly delicious 🤤

The charcoal heat is strong, so grill it carefully so it doesn't burn!
You know the part of pork belly where the skin is still attached? It felt exactly like eating that delicious part •• Eating it together with the radish salad is pure bliss 🤩🤩

For the scallops, I think you're good to eat once the cheese has melted and the shell is a little charred!! When grilling, make sure the scallop doesn't stick to the shell ~! The scallops had no fishy taste at all and were so delicious‼️

Galmaegi-sal — portion size and taste for one serving
Next up is galmaegi-sal! But honestly, the value for money here is really great.. Being able to order one serving at a time of various meats you want to try, and having the portion per serving not be small at all, made this place so great! The galmaegi-sal wasn't chewy at all — it was tender and clean-tasting, so delicious 😋😋

Grill-it-yourself octopus (5 pieces)
We also tried the grilled octopus (5 pieces)! I'd only ever had it already grilled before, so grilling it myself like this was new and fun‼️ You can brush it with chili sauce while grilling, or dip it once it's fully grilled!!

We also grilled the marshmallows that came as a side dish, but I forgot about them and left them too long, so they ended up burnt into the shape of the grill plate..haha Leave them too long and this happens, so watch closely while you eat 😂😂

Side dish: seafood ramyeon
We ordered seafood ramyeon on the side! Usually when you order seafood ramyeon, there isn't much actual seafood in it, but this one was loaded with shrimp, clams, squid, and even bean sprouts — refreshing and delicious 🫶🏻🫶🏻

There's coffee and phone chargers you can use before you leave, so feel free to use them!!

Sangnok Hoegwan Goseong Branch — overall summary
Since it's near Bukgucheong Station, it's easy to find, and being close to Daegu iM Bank Park makes it a great spot to come after watching a Daegu FC match! I think the biggest strength of Sangnok Hoegwan is being able to order just one serving at a time and being able to eat seafood and meat together at the same time‼️ The inside of the restaurant is spacious too, so it seemed great for company dinners, club gatherings, and group meetups~! There's still so much meat and seafood I haven't tried, so I feel like it'll feel fresh and different every time I come back — I want to come again 🤩🫰🏻
