Perilla oil ice cream and burrata jambon toast at Kueodeukkutteu
In short
Kueodeukkutteu is a brunch and Western-style café with a terrace on Sinpung-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. Having already eaten a meal that day, two coffees, burrata jambon French toast, and perilla oil ice cream were ordered for a tea-time visit, and the sweet-salty thick toast paired with the nutty perilla oil ice cream stood out most. A great spot to combine café and brunch in one stop during a Haenggung-dong date.

Kueodeukkutteu 54 Sinpung-ro, 1st and 2nd floor, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea 11:30-20:30 Open every day

Out on a Haenggung-dong date, I stopped by Kueodeukkutteu again after a while. I'd been once before — this place also serves pasta and other Western dishes, so it's great for a proper meal, but it's also lovely for brunch or just coffee!

This time I went light (?) haha — just coffee, French toast, and ice cream! The exterior alone has that full Haenggung-dong vibe, so it was perfect for a date spot on a nice-weather day.

We'd already eaten that day, so we decided to keep it to a light little girls' tea time~ Kueodeukkutteu, this Haenggung-dong café with a terrace, is already known as one of the go-to spots for Western food and atmosphere in the neighborhood.

Brick exterior and terrace, pure Haenggung-dong feel
The exterior of this Haenggung-dong café terrace is just so pretty. Brick building, a stone wall, and lots of green plants — the kind of place you'd glance at even just walking by! There's a terrace space out front too, so once the weather cools down, sitting outside with a coffee would be amazing. Haenggung-dong itself is fun to wander through alley by alley, and having places like this scattered around makes it perfect for a date. I liked the atmosphere last time I visited, and coming back after a while, it was still just as pretty. If the weather's nice, eating out on the terrace would be so happy and good.
What's the inside like?
Inside also had that same emotional, atmospheric feel unique to Kueodeukkutteu. Wood-tone furniture plus warm lighting made everything feel cozy overall! I actually prefer this kind of natural, comfortable atmosphere over something overly styled haha. The tables aren't cramped either, so it's great for sitting down with coffee and brunch, and perfect for chatting leisurely on a Haenggung-dong date. Terrace vibes outside, cozy wood-tone vibes inside — wherever you sit at this Haenggung-dong café, the atmosphere is good. Photos come out well too, so I'd recommend it as a Haenggung-dong date spot and an aesthetic café worth visiting.

What we ordered and the prices
We ordered right away by scanning the QR code on the table, and what we ordered that day was:
- Americano ICE x2 ₩8,000
- Perilla oil ice cream ₩5,000
- Burrata jambon French toast ₩16,000
That's what we ordered! Since this Haenggung-dong café terrace normally has pasta and other brunch/Western dishes too, it's fine to visit for lunch or dinner as well. This time we were just wandering around Haenggung-dong and stopped in like a café, so we kept it to this.

I was thirsty so I asked for the coffee first. No sourness, nice and nutty iced americano. Seriously, when is the weather going to break — it's so hot, and it's supposed to be fall.

We ordered two americanos! Both the French toast and the ice cream are sweet and nutty menu items, so iced americano really is the best pairing for this kind of food. A bite of French toast, a sip of americano, a bite of perilla oil ice cream, another sip of americano — eating it in this combo was just right.

Burrata jambon French toast
The burrata jambon French toast and perilla oil ice cream were so pretty just visually.
The thick French toast comes with jambon and burrata cheese together, and the toast was genuinely thick, so it was more filling than I expected. Golden-brown on the outside, moist and soft on the inside! I was like, this has got to be one of the best brunch spots in Haenggung-dong.

The French toast is already tasty on its own, but eating it with the salty jambon and soft burrata cheese gave it that perfect sweet-salty combo haha. Cherry tomatoes came on the side too, so it was nice to eat something fresh and tangy every so often. Eating it with coffee made it feel like a total brunch. I mean, I love brunch, you know.

So what does the perilla oil ice cream taste like?
And then the perilla oil ice cream!
Just from the name I was like, perilla oil and ice cream together...? But I was curious so I ordered it. Perilla oil is drizzled over the ice cream, with some crunchy toppings on top, and the nutty flavor went surprisingly well with it?!

The sweet, soft flavor of the ice cream itself combined with the distinct nutty aroma of perilla oil made it feel completely different from the ice cream I normally eat.

It was nice to eat a spoonful after the French toast, and it went well with the americano too haha. It felt like one of those signature desserts you should try at least once if you come to Kueodeukkutteu. The friend I was on this Haenggung-dong date with also loved how well the perilla oil and ice cream worked together, and that made me really happy too.

Recommended as a Haenggung-dong date course
Recommended as a Haenggung-dong date course 💛 I'd visited Haenggung-dong's Kueodeukkutteu once before, and came back again after a while this time. Since they have full meal options, you can come for pasta or other Western dishes, or, like us, order French toast and coffee and enjoy it as a brunch café.

Above all, the exterior has that strong Haenggung-dong feel, and with the terrace too, the atmosphere is just so pretty. The burrata jambon French toast we had this time was delicious, and the unusual perilla oil ice cream really stuck with me.

If you're on a date in Haenggung-dong and looking for a café with good atmosphere or a brunch spot, Kueodeukkutteu is worth a visit. Haenggung-dong café + Haenggung-dong brunch + Haenggung-dong date — this terrace café can handle all three at once. Next time, I want to go back for the actual meal menu.
