Incheon bulgogi restaurant with the old-style set for three
In short
Dongchuwon Bulgogi is an old-style bulgogi and Korean beef bulgogi restaurant in Hagik-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon, in the courthouse district. The writer came back for a wedding-invitation gathering with a high school teacher and friends and ordered three servings of the old-style bulgogi set (24,900 won), cooking the beef briefly in the broth and finishing with bulgogi and mustard tucked into morning bread rolls. With a large hall and private rooms for 6 to 28 guests by reservation, Dongchuwon Bulgogi is an easy choice for family meals and group dinners in Incheon.

I visited Dongchuwon Bulgogi, a bulgogi restaurant in Hagik-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon! Dongchuwon specializes in old-style bulgogi and Korean beef bulgogi, alongside a variety of Korean dishes. It's already one of my favorite restaurants that I've lost count of how many times I've been back to — this time I went for a wedding-invitation gathering with my high school teacher and friends :)

Where is Dongchuwon Bulgogi, and where do you park?

What comes with the old-style bulgogi set for three
I ordered the old-style bulgogi set (₩24,900) for three servings. It comes with vegetables like bok choy, mushrooms, and sweet pumpkin plus a small portion of flat glass noodles,

and the bulgogi meat comes out separately

The basic side dishes are vegetable salad, pickled onions, baechu kimchi, and gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi). All the side dishes at Dongchuwon are delicious ♥ Especially the gat kimchi — it's seriously so good!!!!!!!

How to cook the bulgogi in the broth
Pour in the broth, add the vegetables and noodles on the side, then place the bulgogi in the center

The meat is thin so it cooks faster than you'd expect, and since it's cooked with steam, you get juicy, tender meat haha

I think it tastes best if you don't pile all the meat in at once — just add a little at a time and eat it like shabu-shabu, dipping it in as you go~~~!

The cute little Dongchuwon stamp(?) pressed into the mushroom is always a fun surprise to spot lol

On a good day with good people, a drink or two is a must

As the broth starts bubbling gently in the pot and you add the bulgogi, the delicious smell starts wafting up — just looking at it makes you crave a bowl of rice!! It's great with drinks, but it's even better with rice, which is why I often came back for lunch too '-

Since the thinly sliced bulgogi is simmered together with the broth, it has a different charm from your typical crispy-grilled bulgogi! As the meat cooks, the seasoning naturally seeps into the broth, and eating the meat together with the broth is sweet and savory — so good ♥

Bulgogi and mustard in morning bread rolls
Another fun part of Dongchuwon Bulgogi is wrapping the bulgogi in morning bread! Once the bulgogi is cooked enough, split a morning bread roll in half and fill it with bulgogi and mustard haha. At first I wondered, would bulgogi and morning bread actually go together?, but once I tried it together, it was seriously~~~ so good! Honestly, one of the biggest reasons I come to Dongchuwon is because I crave this morning bread + bulgogi combo — that says it all!

Bulgogi with plain rice is delicious too, but stuffing it into morning bread is Dongchuwon's own special way, so if you visit, I definitely recommend trying it this way! 🥯🥩 Dongchuwon Bulgogi, a restaurant near the Hagik-dong courthouse district, is a must-visit :) Recommended!
