I was looking for a place for a dinner date around Sinsa Station's Garosu-gil and ended up at Awesome Rose. I wanted somewhere I could have both steak and pasta, and Awesome Rose seemed to have a good atmosphere on top of the food, so I gave it a try. When I actually visited in the evening, there were couples clearly on dates and tables that looked like they were on blind dates, so I could see why it's a popular spot for a Sinsa Station date or a Garosu-gil blind date.

Why dinner at Awesome Rose suits a date

I visited in the evening, and there were quite a lot of diners inside. I noticed a lot of couple tables in particular, and there was also a table that felt like a blind date. So if you're looking for a Sinsa Station restaurant and want a place with atmosphere and not just food, I thought Awesome Rose would fit well.

The interior features rose-themed decor and the lighting is fairly soft, so visiting in the evening made the atmosphere feel even better.

There's also a space in the back where you can take black-and-white photos. These days, when looking for a restaurant with a nice atmosphere, I find myself checking not just the food but whether I can take photos too, so it was fun that Awesome Rose let me snap a quick photo after the meal. Eating out on a date and taking a photo afterward means you don't even need to plan a separate course.

This dish pairs steak with grilled onion and wasabi over rice. You put a piece of steak with a little grilled onion and a dab of wasabi on top of the rice and eat it all together — as a single bite, the combination worked really well. Eating steak alone puts the meat flavor front and center, but adding the sweetness of the grilled onion and the wasabi shifts the flavor bit by bit.

It was better with just a touch of wasabi rather than piling it on. Because it comes with rice, it's a steak dish that still feels light enough for a full meal. If you want steak near Sinsa Station but a whole individual steak feels like too much, the rose steak rice bowl is a good alternative.

250g Hanwoo rose steak, medium-well

This dish is Hanwoo (Korean beef) aged using Awesome Rose's own aging method, served with grilled vegetables. It comes in three sizes — 200g, 250g, and 300g — and since I wanted to eat a lot, I ordered the 250g.

The steak comes with grilled vegetables on the side, so it looks like a good main to order for two. There's a nice variety of grilled vegetables too — tomato, zucchini, eggplant, and potato.

Awesome Rose has an open kitchen, so you can watch the food being prepared. Waiting while watching the steak get grilled meant I naturally got to see the whole cooking process. The steak sliced very tenderly. You can also choose your doneness, and I went with medium-well.

At the end, they gave me a rose too. True to the name Awesome Rose, getting a rose after finishing the meal was pretty memorable. If you're looking for a place near Sinsa Station or Garosu-gil where you can enjoy steak and pasta along with a good atmosphere, Awesome Rose is worth checking out.
