I was looking for a good restaurant for a dinner with my mom — she loves Korean food. So I went to Umuljip, a Korean restaurant near Sinjungdong Station known for its clean, neatly plated set meals!

Where is Umuljip Bucheon, and what are its hours and parking?
📍Address: 190-1 Sinheung-ro, Sangga 2-dong 1st floor 112, 113, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do 📍Hours: Daily 11:30–21:00 (break time 15:30–17:00) Parking available at the Danji 2 commercial complex
It's close to Exit 1 of Sinjungdong Station! Just go straight from in front of the Wonmi Police Station. Parking is available too, so it's convenient to visit by car. Just make sure to park in the Danji 2 commercial complex lot!

A real well in the middle of the dining room, with a bamboo interior
The moment you step inside, it feels like you've walked into a forest, or a bamboo grove — like you're surrounded by nature.
True to its name (Umuljip means 'well house'), there's an actual well in the middle of the restaurant! Water even trickles down it.

Booking a floor-seating table at Umuljip Bucheon in advance
I wanted a seated table, so I made a reservation before visiting! I wanted to feel like I was eating in nature haha. The bamboo interior was calm and serene.

It's not just seated tables — there are more tables further inside. You can pull down curtains for privacy while chatting over the meal. There's also a spacious area, great for family gatherings, group meetups, or company dinners.

How to order the Umuljip Bucheon set spread
Here's the menu at Umuljip! Besides the set meals, there are also combo sets. For the set meal, you pick a type of hot pot and a type of clay-pot rice.
- Hanwoo beef brisket hot pot
- Spicy tomato hot pot + bracken and shiitake clay-pot rice
- Nutritious seafood hot pot + gondre tomato clay-pot rice
This is what we ordered!

The tableware is already set out at the table. There were even slippers ready at the seated table. Handy for going to the restroom or washing your hands. You can feel the thoughtfulness in these little details, right? haha

Beef brisket spicy tomato hot pot with bracken and shiitake clay-pot rice
Finally, the main dish we'd been waiting for — the single-person set meal arrived!

This is the beef brisket spicy tomato hot pot I ordered! It came out clean and neatly plated as a full spread — it looked great and felt like being treated well haha.

I chose the bracken and shiitake clay-pot rice. The sight of the freshly steamed rice, still steaming when I opened the lid, had me snapping photos right away! The shiitake aroma spread gently and smelled wonderful.
It's packed generously with bracken (gosari) and shiitake mushrooms!

They mixed the clay-pot rice well and scooped it into a bowl for me. The portion was much bigger than I expected! It wasn't a small rice bowl, but it was packed full. The texture of the shiitake and bracken was great, and the rice itself was nutty and light — a perfect match with the spicy tomato hot pot I ordered.
The best part of clay-pot rice — you've got to eat the scorched rice (nurungji) too! They pour hot water in and cover the lid.
Side dishes to eat with the rice, and sauce for the hot pot, also came along!

The spicy tomato hot pot comes with a raw egg
The spicy tomato hot pot comes with a raw egg too — they said you can crack it into a bowl, beat it, and dip like a sauce, or add it to the hot pot to cook.

I wanted to cook it in the hot pot, so I added it in! I wanted it soft-boiled haha.
It cooked quickly haha. The yolk came out perfectly soft-boiled — I broke it over the rice and mixed it in, doubling the nuttiness!

There's so much beef brisket in there too! Even before tasting it, I was already looking forward to it.

I couldn't quite picture what a spicy tomato hot pot would taste like, but one bite in and I thought, wow, this is really good. I never expected beef brisket to go so well with tomato haha. The broth is genuinely spicy but bursting with savory depth — I couldn't put my spoon down. There's plenty of vegetables along with the meat, so dipping them in the sauce was delicious too, and eating it with rice mellowed the spiciness — such a great combo.
Mom's order: nutritious seafood hot pot with gondre tomato clay-pot rice

This is the set my mom ordered — nutritious seafood hot pot + gondre tomato clay-pot rice.
It's topped generously with gondre (mountain greens), and maybe because the tomato was cooked down, it had a sweetness that paired well with the gondre — fragrant and delicious!

The nutritious seafood hot pot is also loaded with seafood. It has octopus, shrimp, scallops, and clams! Doesn't the broth already look so refreshing? It really was clean and refreshing. The seafood inside was fresh and had a nice chewy, springy texture too.
Eating the gondre tomato clay-pot rice together with the seafood from the hot pot wasn't heavy at all — it was light, so I could keep eating comfortably!
And the final finish — the scorched rice! We were so full, but you can't skip it. Eating it with the side dishes and the hot pot, we just kept going haha. A clean, satisfying finish.
Why Umuljip Bucheon works for a meal out with parents
The atmosphere is great and the menu is a unique take on Korean food, and it tastes good too — I think parents would really love being brought here! It's also great for private conversations, so it works for dates, and it seems like a perfect spot for wedding invitation gatherings, family birthday events, or any kind of get-together. If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant near Sinjung-dong, I'd recommend giving it a visit.
