Where is Dongchundang Osan Dugok Branch, and is there parking?
Dongchundang Shabu Shabu Kalguksu Osan Dugok Branch is located at 33-18 Seobu-ro, 1F, Osan-si, Gyeonggi-do. It was an easy drive from the Osan Segyo area, and there was parking space right in front of the restaurant, which made visiting by car really convenient.

With the weather getting a little cooler these days, I keep craving hot soupy food haha. This time, while looking for somewhere to have a hearty meal with family, I went to Dongchundang Shabu Shabu Kalguksu Osan Dugok Branch in Dugok-dong, Osan!

When you're going out to eat with family, the food matters, but honestly how easy the parking is matters too haha.
Inside Dongchundang: seating and table layout
The Osan Dugok branch of Dongchundang was quite large-looking even from the outside. It's a standalone building, so it wasn't hard to find, and once inside, the space felt even bigger than it looked from outside~~~ There was plenty of seating too, so it seemed like a good fit for families or larger groups dining together.
Overall it had a comfortable atmosphere for a meal, and I saw families having a cozy dinner together too. So I think it'd also be a comfortable pick for anyone in Osan looking for a place to take their parents haha. There's a baby chair too, so it looks great for families with kids, right?
The owner even thoughtfully provided hair ties haha, I love that.
Menu and order: shabu kalguksu for two plus 160g extra beef

Once we sat down and looked at the menu, there were several options built around shabu kalguksu. Besides the basic shabu kalguksu, there was also Chodang sundubu (soft tofu) shabu kalguksu, cordyceps longevity mushroom shabu kalguksu, and mushroom spicy hot pot kalguksu, so you could pick according to your taste.

We ordered the shabu kalguksu for two. We chose beef for the meat and spicy for the broth. It could have been enough with the basic portion of meat for two people, but since we wanted plenty of meat, we also added 160g of extra beef haha.
This is the origin-labeling sign, by the way! Check the photo haha.
The table starts with bibimbap

Once the food started coming out, the table filled up nicely ♡ The first thing that caught my eye was the bibimbap (mixed rice).

It felt a bit unusual for bibimbap to come out first at a shabu-shabu place! But it was really, really good ㅠㅠ The crunchy young radish greens (yeolmu) were so good haha.

Oh, and we had kimchi alongside it too — it went well with the bibimbap and also super well with the shabu-shabu!!!
How was the beef shabu-shabu in the spicy broth?
Now, on to the shabu-shabu for real!
The broth was loaded with vegetables!!! We added the beef one slice at a time and cooked it as we ate haha. Once it started bubbling away... tears started flowing from my eyes.
Since there were so many vegetables, I tried them before the beef haha, and they went so well with the spicy broth~~

The dipping sauce was tasty too, good for dipping alongside it haha.

The spicy broth had a sharp kick that paired really well with both the beef and the vegetables!!

At first the broth tasted clean, but as the meat and vegetables went in, it got deeper and richer. While eating the shabu-shabu, I kept spooning up the broth again and again haha.
Oh, and since the beef was sliced thin, it cooked quickly so there was no long wait, which was great~~ Eating it together with the vegetables felt clean but still filling :)
My favorite — ongshimi dumplings~~ I was so happy ㅠㅠ
We added the extra 160g of beef in bit by bit as we ate. Yeah, when two meat-lovers are eating together, adding extra was definitely the right call haha. With plenty of meat, we could alternate between meat and vegetables and take our time enjoying it, without having to ration the beef~
The course continues: kalguksu and fried rice
And it's not over here!!!! Once you've eaten enough shabu-shabu, it's kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) time. We added the noodles to the leftover broth and boiled them — since the broth had already simmered with beef and vegetables, the flavor was even deeper than at the start.

The spicy broth soaked into the noodles really well, so the kalguksu was delicious too. I still had a bit of room left after the shabu-shabu, but once I added the kalguksu, I was definitely full haha.
But that's still not the end, right? The eating never stops haha.
After the kalguksu, finally, fried rice~ Starting with bibimbap, then shabu-shabu, then kalguksu, and finally fried rice — it really felt like a proper full meal ^0^/

I soaked my fried rice in the shabu-shabu broth and it was even more delicious haha. I know my food, so definitely try this once!

And with just one menu order, we ended up eating rice, meat, vegetables, noodles, and fried rice in sequence, so the meal turned out more filling than expected ㅠㅠ Honestly, when you think about it, getting a full course like this at this price... it's really, really touching ㅠㅠ The portions were generous, so it was great for eating slowly and filling up.
The self-bar: free-refill makgeolli and popcorn
But you guys, it's still not over. The Osan Dugok branch of Dongchundang also has a self-bar, and it was really well stocked too ㅠㅠ There was makgeolli (rice wine), black sesame soy milk, and cordyceps tea, so you could help yourself to whatever you wanted, and the makgeolli was unlimited refill!!!

If you like alcohol, pairing shabu-shabu with makgeolli is great, and if you don't drink, black sesame soy milk or cordyceps tea works too, so there were plenty of options haha.

And the self-bar also had popcorn! This was unlimited refill too, so we could grab as much as we wanted while eating — coming for shabu-shabu and getting popcorn too basically covered dessert~ If you're visiting with kids, I think they'd love the popcorn haha.

Photo zone, ice cream and mouthwash
Before leaving after finishing our meal, we stopped by the photo zone set up inside the restaurant!!! When it feels like a shame to just leave after eating, it's nice to have a spot to take a photo haha. Having a space like this inside the restaurant seemed like a nice touch for taking commemorative photos with family or friends~
But you guys, it's still not over... they even gave us ice cream at the end... and it was excellent too.... honestly, isn't that just crazy ㅠㅠㅠ Owner, do you have anything left over for yourself?? ㅠㅠㅠ
And on top of that, they even had mouthwash ready!!!
Is Dongchundang worth it for a family meal in Osan Segyo?
The restaurant is spacious and parking is easy, so I'd fully recommend it as a family dining spot haha. If you're craving Korean dishes like shabu-shabu or kalguksu in Osan Segyo, definitely make a visit haha. It also seems like a good option when you want to have a warm soupy meal together with your parents~
We went with the spicy broth this time, but next time I'd like to try the other shabu kalguksu menu options too. If you're looking for a hearty family meal in Osan Segyo, Dongchundang Shabu Shabu Kalguksu Osan Dugok Branch is worth stopping by haha.
