Gangneung café with sweet-salty corn ice cream and high chairs: Baegya
In short
Baegya Coffee is a four-floor ocean-view bakery café right in front of Sageunjin Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon. The writer ordered the ok-sigi corn ice cream (6,500 won), a corn cream shot latte (6,800 won) and an iced americano (5,500 won) for 18,800 won total and ate indoors with her child, and the salty corn-cracker powder topping on the ice cream was the most memorable part. Indoor seating at Baegya Coffee allows children and every floor has two high chairs, so it works well for a family stop by the beach.

I visited Baegya Coffee, an ocean-view café right across from Sageunjin Beach in Gangneung, with my kid, and it was so good I had to write about it.

Where is Baegya Coffee, and how do you walk there from Sageunjin Beach?
Baegya Coffee is an ocean-view café spanning floors 1–3 at 607 Haean-ro, Gangneung, right across from Sageunjin Beach. After looking at the sea for a bit, we walked over to Baegya Coffee for a coffee 🚶♀️ It's directly across the street and there's a crosswalk, so it's super accessible.

Where do you park at Baegya Coffee?
You can park right in front of Baegya Coffee, and there's a separate lot up the hill to the right! Parking staff guide you the whole way, so there's nothing to worry about.

The first-floor bakery and self-service packing station
You order at Baegya Coffee on the 1st floor. We parked in the designated spots, which turned out to be on the 2nd floor. Coming down to the 1st floor, right by the register there's a bakery section with all kinds of delicious-looking bread. Since we came after peak time, though, the popular breads were all sold out 🥺

From pound cakes and pies to croissants, the bakery lineup is so varied and everything looks delicious — great for a snack afterward 🥨🥐🍞🥖 Each floor also has a self-service packing station for takeout, stocked with sanitary gloves and bags.

Since we were in Gangneung, we went for the signature corn menu 🌽

Can you bring kids? Which parts of Baegya Coffee are no-kids zones
Baegya Coffee is a four-floor building, and all the outdoor areas are no-kids-zone! While waiting for our order, we looked around inside to check, and indoor seating does allow kids — but the outdoor terraces and rooftop are no-kids-zone, so keep that in mind 👶🏻

Indoors, it's basically an ocean-view café through and through — full-wall windows everywhere give it an open feel, so you can enjoy your coffee while looking at the sea. Each floor also has two high chairs, which is a nice touch.

Indoor seats and the terrace on each of Baegya Coffee's floors
The indoor space at Baegya Coffee is really spacious, with high ceilings and such a clean interior ✨ Seats toward the back might have a slightly blocked view, but the stepped seating rises up enough that you can still enjoy the view without obstruction.

Beyond the indoor space, there's also a terrace on every floor, so on a nice day it'd be great to have coffee outside with the sea breeze.

How do the ok-sigi corn ice cream and corn cream shot latte taste?
Here's what we ordered: ok-sigi corn ice cream, corn cream shot latte, and iced americano! Just look at that visual, such an appealing dessert lineup 🌽 Baegya Coffee has an elevator, so getting around is easy.

The iced americano had a bit of acidity, a not-too-strong bitterness, and a nice nutty flavor — it suited my taste well ☕️

The corn cream shot latte was a flavor you really can only get here 👍🏻 The soft, corn-scented cream on top fills your mouth, and sipping it Einspänner-style along with the coffee, the cream's sweet aroma paired so well with the coffee (so this is what Gangneung coffee tastes like...)
Ok-sigi ice cream is corn ice cream with popping corn kernels and a crunchy, salty powder sprinkled on top that has a corn-cracker vibe!

Eating it with the topping gives you a great sweet-salty combo! It's sweet with a corn flavor that doesn't taste artificial at all 😍 My husband, who didn't like the chodang corn desserts he'd had in Seoul, loved everything here from the ok-sigi ice cream to the latte.
My daughter, curious about the corn ice cream, took one bite and kept saying 'more, more!'

The corn kernel topping also has a fun popping texture.

A look at the rooftop and the verdict on Baegya Coffee
Baegya Coffee's rooftop is a no-kids-zone, but I went up just to take a look! The sea view is so wide open it clears your chest, and there's even a photo zone where pictures come out great — good for making memories too :)
If you're deciding on a large café near the beach in Gangneung, give Baegya Coffee a try 💛
