Bupyeong jokbal restaurant takeout, reheated next day: Jangmo Jokbal

In short

Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch is a handmade king-size jokbal (braised pig's trotter) restaurant a 2-minute walk from Exit 3 of Bupyeong Market Station in Incheon. The order was a half-and-half front leg (original plus garlic jokbal) and a small jjaengban guksu (cold noodles on a tray) picked up as takeout, and the meat-to-skin ratio was balanced enough to stay chewy and moist, with the garlic sauce soaked through the meat. The portion was large, and the leftover jokbal reheated in the microwave for 1 minute the next day tasted exactly the same.

Today I visited Jangmo Jokbal, a handmade king-size jokbal (pig's trotter) restaurant near Bupyeong Market Station. Honestly, a friend who lives in Bupyeong once recommended this place as a jokbal must-try, and I'd been wanting to try it ever since — so here's my takeout review!

It's really close to Exit 3 of Bupyeong Market Station. A 2-minute walk, easy.

The menu: what's the difference between front leg and hind leg jokbal?

Menu board listing jokbal varieties at Jangmo Jokbal

There's front leg, back leg, fire jokbal, garlic jokbal, cold jokbal, and barbecue jokbal. Everything looked delicious, but after much deliberation I ordered the front-leg half-and-half (original + garlic jokbal)!

✔️ Do you know the difference between front leg and back leg? Apparently pigs use their front legs far more, so front leg is chewier and softer, with a good balance of meat and skin. Back leg, on the other hand, has more lean meat and tends to be plainer.

I used to think jokbal with a lot of skin was greasy. But that wasn't it — it's just that badly made skin is greasy. Bupyeong Jangmo Jokbal has a good balance of meat and skin, and it was delicious 😋

Domestic jokbal boiled fresh the same day being sliced

They sliced the jokbal right after I ordered. Bupyeong Jangmo Jokbal uses 100% domestic pork and boils it fresh the same day. So. Good.

Already looks delicious — 🤤 Chop chop chop chop, they were slicing it up beautifully. Looked around the store while I waited.

Jokbal doesn't make you fat, it's collagen~ Anyway, why am I posting the menu board again, you ask?

Because looking over the menu again, I noticed the origin labels and was surprised — everything is domestic!! So reassuring. They also packed the order up really fast. And takeout gets you a ₩2,000 discount.

What comes in the half-and-half jokbal and small jjaengban guksu takeout

Packed side dishes: lettuce, chili peppers, chives, and radish pickle

Even for takeout, they packed everything — lettuce, chili peppers, chives, all of it. And hey, that red radish pickle over there is a hidden gem. I'm telling you in advance, make sure you eat it together with that radish pickle. First up, the original.

Original front-leg jokbal: how does it taste?

Look at that glossy shine ✨️ The meat and fat were mixed in just the right proportion, making it soft to eat. The jokbal was genuinely chewy and tender. I kept thinking, can it really be this chewy, can it really be this moist?

Garlic jokbal with a mini-trotter look

Garlic jokbal with the sauce soaked into the meat

This is the garlic jokbal 🐽 It had a mini-trotter kind of feel. I've only ever had garlic jokbal once before, and at that other place they just drizzled garlic sauce over plain jokbal, you know? But here, the sauce felt like it was actually soaked into the meat.

There were a lot of chewy bits too, so it was wonderfully springy and delicious. The garlic sauce had a sweet balance with that sharp garlic kick, an explosion of savory flavor 🔥 One bite of original, one bite of garlic, back and forth — I couldn't stop...

Jjaengban guksu (small), ordered as a side

Small jjaengban guksu ordered as a side, packed for takeout

They gave the jjaengban guksu with a bit of shaved ice to mix in and eat, but I tried it the opposite way — dunking the noodles into the broth instead.

You can eat it like cold mul-makguksu. When you take a bite of noodles in between the jokbal, your mouth resets and you can start fresh again, haha.

Leftover jokbal reheated 1 minute in the microwave the next day

Honestly I hadn't given the leftovers much thought since I figured I'd finish it all, but the portion was so generous I ended up saving some. The next day, I microwaved it for 1 minute and it tasted exactly like the day before 😁

If you're looking for a good restaurant in Bupyeong, Incheon, I can confidently recommend this jokbal spot near Bupyeong Market Station. Jokbal that's moist, springy, and tender, made from 100% domestic pork boiled fresh the same day. Give Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Branch a try 👍
