Here, the staff grill everything perfectly from start to finish so you don't have to bother with the grilling yourself — I went to eat meat the easy way :) So here's my honest review from Ssosam 208, a restaurant well known as a Siheung must-visit!

It's in the main commercial area of Baegot so it was easy to find and get to! The weather happened to be cool and just right that day, so with the windows thrown wide open~ eating meat while catching a cool breeze was just perfect 🍃

Even though it was an early weekday evening, the place was bustling — I saw quite a few groups who seemed to be there for a work dinner!
How Ssosam 208 grills: 500°C first sear, then 208°C
Apparently meat turns out completely differently depending on what temperature you grill it at?! Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch first sears the meat over 500°C charcoal to lock in the juices, then grills it a second time at 208°C, giving you meat that's chewy and bursting with juice, they say.

A famous spot that's been on TV a ton~
Ssosam 208 menu and the three cuts we ordered

Apparently Ssosam only sources kimchi certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety! Kimchi is a must with meat, so it's reassuring to know you can trust what you're eating 👍🏻

They also have set menus ready to make ordering easier, and there's a huge lineup of meat dishes — pork belly, five-layer pork belly, pork shoulder, pork skirt meat, and more — plus pork skin, beef intestine, cold pork belly, and even bone-in short rib stew in a metal bowl..!! Wow, how do you even choose (⊙o⊙) The menu is so varied it seems like a great place to visit with a group. And I really love pork jowl, so the fact that Ssosam Baegot Branch even has pork jowl on the menu — I'm sold..💕

What I ordered
- Marbled pork belly 200g — ₩16,000
- Marbled special pork shoulder 200g — ₩16,000
- Special pork jowl 170g — ₩20,000
- Cold noodles — ₩6,500
- Soybean paste stew — ₩3,000

The best way to eat Ssosam 208's pork
- 1. Start with the spicy kimchi pho that comes out free before your order 🍜
- 2. Ssosam is a place where staff grill the meat for you! No need to pick up tongs or scissors 💡
- 3. Once the meat is grilled, all you have to do is eat 🥩
- 4. Pile on the wild garlic leaves and grilled kimchi and wrap it up (unlimited refills)
- 5. There's a variety of sauces, so it's fun picking which one to try

The spicy kimchi pho is a nice bonus~
96-hour aged Korean pork, grilled by staff from start to finish
Ta-da~ the meat is here. Apparently Ssosam 208 ages top-grade Korean pork — slaughtered within 5 days — for 96 hours. Maybe that's why the meat's color itself looked so fresh, and the thickness was no joke.
The best part about Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch — they grill the meat all the way through for you.. Grilling meat is no small task, you know how important this is, right? I just got to sit comfortably and wait, and that was so nice.

It felt like eating meat on an outdoor terrace ~ 😝 The meat is grilling up beautifully.

Grilled kimchi with sesame oil and chili flakes, plus minced garlic sauce
And you can't have meat without grilled kimchi! They don't just grill it plain — they sprinkle on sesame oil and red pepper flakes and grill it until golden brown.

The sauces available are red pepper flakes / ssamjang (thick soybean paste dip) / minced garlic sauce / salt / fermented anchovy sauce — and the minced garlic sauce is the real star.

Try everything — wild garlic leaves, asparagus, lettuce wraps, kimchi, the works.
Beef brisket soybean paste stew and cold buckwheat noodles to finish
It'd feel incomplete to eat meat without soybean paste stew, right? The stew, made with beef brisket, was refreshing and spicy enough to polish off a whole bowl of rice.

After the meat, cold noodles for dessert! A swirl of vinegar and mustard, and slurp it down cold. Ssosam's cold noodles really had great noodle texture — chewy and springy, with a refreshingly cold broth, the perfect palate cleanser after all that meat~!

Is Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch worth it? Final verdict
Overall verdict on Ssosam 208 💡 I finally had a really good, proper meal of meat at Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch after a while. All the meat was tender overall with the juices intact, so I kept eating without getting tired of it. The pork belly, pork shoulder, and pork jowl I had this time were all so delicious that it was hard to pick just one.. I'd recommend trying all three.
Above all, having the staff grill the meat from start to finish made for such a comfortable meal :) If you're craving good meat in Siheung Baegot, or looking for a spot for a date, family dinner, group gathering, or company dinner, I recommend Ssosam 208 Baegot Branch!
I think I'll be coming back with my own money the next time I'm craving meat (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
