Dog-friendly Gimhae café with tomato basil ade: Peer a Peer

In short

Peer a Peer is a large café in Jillye-myeon, Gimhae, Gyeongnam, built inside a 40-year-old disused factory, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables only. At a shaded outdoor table with the dog came kkeurungji (crispy twice-baked croissant), a ciabatta sandwich, a vanilla latte and a tomato basil ade, and the ade made with house-made tomato syrup was the best of the four. With a wide private parking lot, Peer a Peer is an easy drive-and-stop paired with Gimhae Outlet or Clayarch Gimhae.

Peer a Peer is one of the big Gimhae cafés I'd been wanting to visit ever since I saw it on Instagram. It's a spacious space renovated from a defunct factory, and it looked like the outdoor seating was well set up, so I was curious.

I heard dogs are allowed, though only in the outdoor seating, so I decided to stop by with mine 🐶

You arrive at Peer a Peer along what feels like a bit of a country road. It's about 15 minutes by car from Gimhae Outlet and Gimhae Clayarch, so it's a nice spot to combine with a drive!

Maybe because it's renovated from a 40-year-old defunct factory, the lot was seriously huge.

The parking lot was also really spacious, which I loved haha.

Where dogs can sit: the shaded outdoor tables

Dogs are only allowed at Peer a Peer's outdoor seating — you can't bring pups indoors — so we set up outside 🐶 (they said carrying is allowed only briefly when ordering 🤫). There were seats scattered all around outside, but since the weather hadn't quite cooled down yet, we were the only ones out there. Honestly, even better!

You like it too, right??? 🐶

We grabbed the best spot among the outdoor tables, right under the shade, so it wasn't too hot.

The sky was pretty and with the pampas grass there, it felt so totally autumn 🤧

Inside Peer a Peer: seating, art displays and books

Peer a Peer's interior is also super spacious with tons of seating, mostly 2- and 4-person tables.

Over toward what I'd call the main hall, there was a big shared table with an art installation, so the table felt kind of like a stage haha.

On another side there were books set out, giving off a vibe that made you want to sit and read lol.

The restrooms were clean too, and each space was decorated a little differently, so it was fun just looking around Peer a Peer.

What to order: kkeurungji, ciabatta sandwich and tomato basil ade

The bakery lineup was really varied — salt bread, butter tteok, croissants, baguettes, sandwiches, cakes and more — and we picked kkeurungji, a sandwich, a vanilla latte, and a tomato basil ade!

The sandwich + Americano set was ₩10,000, but we swapped for a different drink to get the ₩1,000 discount 〰️

For coming straight from a meal, we ordered pretty generously,,,

Ordered menu items laid out on the outdoor table

The sandwich's ciabatta was chewy and mild-tasting, with olives popping up here and there — really good.

If you're eating alone, this bread would be plenty as a meal on its own.

The kkeurungji was bigger than expected haha, so we ended up boxing some to take home.

The first bite felt just too sweet, but eating it the next day it had a slightly chewy, pleasantly sweet quality that made it perfect as a snack 〰️

And the one we enjoyed the most, the tomato basil ade 🍅 They said it's made with house-made tomato syrup, and it really was refreshing — good stuff!!!

Being an ade, the carbonation made it even more crisp, and it paired so well with the sandwich.

I was torn on which drink to get, but I'm glad I picked this one 〰️〰️

Is Peer a Peer worth it with a dog?

Even though dogs are only allowed outside, cooler weather is coming soon ...^_^ so Peer a Peer is worth a visit if you're looking for a large or dog-friendly café in Gimhae.

With a spacious private parking lot and outdoor space, it was a great Gimhae café to visit with the dog as a driving destination! It was still a bit too hot to sit outside for long, so I'll have to go back once it cools down more 〰️
