Weekday seats and rose milk tea at Deokmi, a Gijang café in Busan
In short
Deokmi Gijang Branch is an ocean-view dessert café right on the water on Dongamhaean-gil in Gijang, Busan, with its space split between a main hall and a separate annex. On a weekday afternoon we sat in the main hall and shared the fig Earl Grey tiramisu (12,800 won), Oreo cheesecake (7,800 won), rose tteneowa milk tea (7,000 won), fig ade (7,500 won) and an iced americano (6,000 won). Deokmi is a café worth coming back to for the desserts and coffee more than the view.

I was heading toward Gijang and wanted to see the sea and eat some good desserts, so I went looking for exactly that — and Deokmi Gijang Branch is what I found :) It's a place that keeps popping up whenever you search Gijang cafés, so I'd been curious about it, and I finally made it there haha. Honestly I picked it for the pretty view at first, but after tasting everything, it's the desserts that make me want to come back.
Main hall or annex: every seat at Deokmi faces the sea
Healing while looking out at the sea 🌊

Being right in front of the sea, the atmosphere felt properly Gijang the moment I arrived. Deokmi Gijang Branch is split into a main hall and an annex. Both have sea views, so wherever you sit, the mood is good.

We ended up settling into the main hall that day.

That's what the annex looks like! Even though it was a weekday, people kept streaming in more than I expected. My assumption that weekdays would be quiet turned out to be totally wrong lol. It's clearly a well-known Gijang ocean-view café — customers didn't stop coming the whole time we were there. Still, sitting leisurely looking at the sea, I felt like I was healing just by doing nothing :)
Deokmi Gijang Branch menu and what we ordered

Everything is handmade in-house! One bite and you can tell it's a step above other places 🤤

- ✔️ Fig Earl Grey Tiramisu ₩12,800
- ✔️ Oreo Cheesecake ₩7,800
- ✔️ Rose Tteneowa ₩7,000
- ✔️ Fig Ade ₩7,500
- ✔️ Iced Americano ₩6,000
Picking one thing at a time, we ended up going all out on both desserts and drinks lol. Looking at the photos afterward, the table was seriously packed...

Fig Earl Grey tiramisu, 12,800 won
Deokmi's Fig Earl Grey Tiramisu is ₩12,800 — a tiramisu with fresh fig compote made using Deokmi's own recipe, paired with earl grey cream. It catches your eye visually right away 👀👀 The figs are genuinely generous here. It's not just a slice placed on top — fresh fig keeps coming with every bite, which I loved haha.

The sweet, soft character of the fig and the fragrant earl grey cream go together surprisingly well. If you like fruit desserts, this combination is honestly addictive lol. Eating it while looking at the sea at this Gijang ocean-view café made it even better :)

Oreo cheesecake, 7,800 won: start here on a first visit
The Oreo Cheesecake is ₩7,800, and if it's your first time at Deokmi Gijang Branch, I'd say try this one first. One bite in and I was like — wait, what cheesecakes had I even been eating before? lol. It was genuinely that good to me. Cheesecake can sometimes get a bit heavy or cloying after a few bites, but this one barely has that feeling — it's moderately sweet with a proper cheese flavor coming through. I heard they use Kiri cream cheese, and honestly you can taste the trust in that 🩷

The base especially has a bit of crunch to it, so it's not just soft the whole way through — there's texture running through it, which made it more fun to eat. Personally, I say you have to have this with an iced americano. One rich bite of cheesecake, one cool sip of americano — that combo was just perfect lol.

Rose tteneowa milk tea, 7,000 won: a subtle rose scent
The Rose Tteneowa is ₩7,000, a milk tea with a subtle rose fragrance. From the name alone I wondered if the rose scent might be too strong, but once I tried it, it was more subtle than I expected. It's not very sweet either, so it's easy to drink without feeling heavy, and the faint hint of rose that comes through at the end is charming. Since the scent isn't overpowering, if you don't specifically dislike rose flavor, I think most people could enjoy this without much divide in opinion.

Fig ade, 7,500 won
The Fig Ade is ₩7,500. After going through several desserts, your mouth naturally gets sweeter, and a sip of ade in between was just right. What I especially liked was that they put in a generous amount of fresh fig inside the ade too.

Iced americano, 6,000 won
The Iced Americano is ₩6,000, and honestly the coffee itself was a surprise. I'll admit I came into this place thinking of it as a Gijang ocean-view café known mainly for desserts. But the americano turned out to be way better than I expected. It doesn't have that burnt taste I personally dislike — it's nutty with a clean coffee flavor, which paired really well with the cheesecake.
Is Deokmi a good place to sit and watch the sea?

Since the main hall and annex at Deokmi each have a different mood, there's some fun in picking a seat to match your taste. Sitting with a cup of coffee looking at the sea, time seemed to pass slowly haha. I understood then why everyone comes looking for Gijang ocean-view cafés. If you want the best ocean-view seats, it's probably better to visit with a bit of extra time to spare.
If this had been a café that was only good for the view, I think one visit would have been enough for me. But Deokmi has good desserts and coffee too, so I think I'll keep thinking about it whenever I'm back in Gijang. The Oreo cheesecake especially — I'd order it again without hesitation. If you're looking for a Gijang ocean-view café where you can properly enjoy the sea and great desserts at the same time, Deokmi Gijang Branch is worth a visit :)
