Hyehwa Indian restaurant Pi Set with mango lassi: Meono Kkameona

Today I'm introducing Meono Kkameona, visited by two women who were well overdue for some Indian curry haha.

I'll just say it... this was the most satisfying meal among the Indian curry places I've visited recently.

Where is Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch, and is there parking?

Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Ihwa Building in Hyehwa. There's 1 hour of free parking at Asia Parking Lot behind the building, and it's open Mon-Sun 11:00 - 22:30 (seems to be open year-round).

Naver Reservation is available, and there's group seating too, so it seems good for a work dinner.

Near the crosswalk at the intersection, there's an entrance into the building right next to Aljungseo. Go up the stairs there and the restaurant is right in front of you. I got off the bus around Myeongnyun 3-ga, near No More Pizza, and it was less than a 2-minute walk from there.

What comes in the Pi Set at Meono Kkameona?

We ordered the Pi Set. It comes with 1 curry, 1 chicken tikka, 1 green salad, 1 naan, 1 rice, and 2 lassis.

Curry used to feel expensive to me, but considering how much dining out costs these days, this felt pretty reasonable.

I thought there'd be two curries, but there was only one... sob.

I always end up reaching for spinach curry whenever I go to a curry place, so I picked palak paneer. Next time I want to try the mutton curry.

Green salad and chicken tikka

Meono's green salad had zero vegetable smell, and the chicken tikka comes with six pieces. The last curry place I went to had that distinctive red cabbage funk in the salad, you know what I mean? It made it hard to eat, but here there was absolutely no vegetable smell, which I loved, ㅜㅜ.

The chicken tikka comes with six pieces, and it's the softeeeeeeeest chicken tikka I've ever had... (or maybe all chicken tikka is like that, honestly).

Whatever the case, the chicken alone was so tasty I didn't even dip it in sauce. I want to know their cooking secret.

This looks like the trio of sides that comes with every curry place. The onion kimchi seems to be the highlight. I'm not a fan of raw onion so I skipped it, but the friend I was with said she liked it because the onion wasn't spicy.

Mango lassi for 1,000 won more, or plain at no extra charge

For lassi at Meono, you absolutely must get mango. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ There's a ₩1,000 upcharge, but it's genuinely delicious (plain lassi has no extra charge). They had strawberry lassi too but 🙂↔️ I recommend mango.

I'm always scared of lassi's sugar content hitting like 80 on the sweetness scale. But this place had a moderate sweetness, like a Gong Cha 50% sugar level, and the mango flavor really came through, so it was delicious...

Honey naan, turmeric rice and palak paneer curry

We ordered honey naan, and the drizzle on top is honey. Need I say more — chewy and sweet, I could've eaten just this and had no regrets. I think I'll only order this naan again.

Turmeric rice also comes with the set. Usually at Southeast Asian restaurants you get that loose, fluffy rice that scatters. This place had rice with a sticky texture... shocking. It didn't give off that Southeast Asian vibe, but the texture was really nice.

The palak paneer curry was thick, with what I think were mozzarella? cheese cubes inside, which made it special, but it didn't taste strongly of spinach, which was a bit of a letdown. Still, I think it would be easy to eat even for people who don't like spices.

But. Next time I'll get the chicken or mutton curry. I thought the curry portion would be small, but it was surprisingly generous — just enough for the two of us, not too little!!

Full set~~** (though the plain lassi didn't come out for some reason...). It took about... 15 minutes?? to arrive. Once you start eating one thing at a time, suddenly the table is completely full. The set menu combination was great, so we ate a very satisfying meal, awesome~👍

Would I go back to Meono Kkameona?

It's apparently a chain, so I feel like I'd have high expectations no matter which branch I visit. If you sign up for Naver alerts or write a review on-site, you get a 5% coupon too, so keep that in mind.

After this we went to see the movie The Intern and please don't watch it... even a morning drama would've been more fun than that.
