Samcheok Bomulseom is an ocean-view dining bar a 5-minute walk from Sol Beach Samcheok in Gangwon. I ordered the lunch omakase for three and especially loved the abalone fried rice, plus a complimentary steamed seafood platter. Verdict: a lovely place for a seasonal meal overlooking the sea.

The writer stayed in room 603 after a day trip suddenly turned into a two-day, one-night trip, and found a clean room, free parking, a water dispenser on every floor and blackout blinds that kept the room completely dark. Although I do not usually make lettuce wraps with meat, its house-made doenjang had me eating an incredible amount of lettuce, alongside juicy pork belly, pickles, and doenjang jjigae. Verdict: Yeoyejeong is a must for anyone who wants to taste exceptional house-made doenjang with pork belly in Yangyang.
