Sokcho bakery café for cream coffee and melon smoothies: Cafe Neorae

I took a weekend trip to Sokcho with Gaeddongi~ After a hearty breakfast of sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew), we stopped to rest before trying Dynamic Maze at Cafe Neorae, a big Sokcho café with truly amazing views of Seoraksan and Ulsanbawi. Having been there, it really is a view spot~!! Seriously, highly recommended 👍👍

Because it is in Sundubu Village, this is a great big Sokcho café for tea time after breakfast or lunch! You can park in the building too, so good~

Open the automatic door and—wow! A wide-open space spreads out before you.

With lush green plants and floor-to-ceiling windows on all four sides, Cafe Neorae has a lovely atmosphere worthy of a big Sokcho café. Cloudy or clear, the view is good.

I like that Cafe Neorae’s menu is not overly complicated. These are drinks that are perfect for a cup of tea after having sundubu-jjigae for breakfast nearby.

The showcase at the back has all kinds of baked goods,

and you just put them on a tray and pay.

It is a nice café to visit with children too, so they have kids’ drinks~ There are delicious cakes as well, so choose whatever suits your taste!

When you choose takeout at Cafe Neorae, a large Sokcho café, it comes in a reusable cup, so it is eco-friendly. You do need to order one drink per person, but if you need an extra cup for something besides a drink, you can buy a reusable cup—handy when sharing drinks, I think.

Pick up your own forks and knives at the self-service bar. You can pack up leftover bread yourself, and there is also a machine for warming purchased bread.

Warm each type of bread lightly for the indicated time—just 15 seconds—and take it with you~

The second floor has a great view too, but Gaeddongi said the third floor was incredible, so up we went~

As soon as we got upstairs, we claimed a spot with a great feeling!

They told us to spoon up the cream first, then drink it, so I generously coated the cookie in condensed-milk cream and had a bite~ So sweet! The cookie was nutty and buttery!

Now I get why it is the signature~

There is Vietnamese condensed milk at the bottom, so stir and stir again before drinking—it makes you so happy~ The café view is beautiful and the drink is delicious too!

My son’s melon smoothie and bakery picks

It tasted exactly like that rich melon color looks! We only meant to take a short break, but ended up properly recharging.

A sweet, melon-flavored smoothie with a sherbet-like feel. It is on a completely different level from Melona~ Sophisticated and intensely melon-y; one sip and the heat just melts away~!

The chocolate conch bread was my child’s pick, and the chestnut loaf was Mom’s. We had just eaten our fill of sundubu-jjigae, but maybe it really is true that there is a separate stomach for bread, hahaha.

The bread dough itself was soft and chewy, while the chocolate coating was done well so it would not get on your hands. Cut it open and it was full of chocolate cream! Of course kids will love this one, haha.

The outside of the chestnut loaf is soboro bread, and it is just the right amount for one person at a bakery.

I thought it would have bits of chestnut throughout, but was it chestnut jam? The nutty chestnuts were made into a jam-like filling, sweet with a smooth finish. This chestnut loaf goes wonderfully with coffee too—highly recommended!

Rice stomach and dessert stomach are separate, so my son kept eating and eating and eating, haha.

We came for a short rest, but got completely absorbed in the scenery outside and rested so well~

Oh~! And there is a diaper-changing station in the restroom too~ So good!

If you are visiting Sokcho, I recommend stopping at a café with beautiful views of Seoraksan and Ulsanbawi! If you are looking for a large Sokcho café, go go Cafe Neorae~
