Chuncheon sushi buffet lunch with mentaiko mayo rice: QooQoo

Last weekend, my boyfriend and I went on a trip to Chuncheon and stopped by QooQoo Chuncheon Branch, where you can enjoy a huge variety of dishes all in one place! QooQoo has not only sushi but also Korean, Chinese, Western, and dessert options, so it seemed like somewhere everyone, young and old, could be happy.

How long was the weekend lunch wait?

We arrived at around 1 PM on the weekend, and the wait was seriously long. Almost an hour, maybe..? So many people coming here must mean it is truly a good restaurant!! I was so excited to see how good the sushi would be 🤤

We boldly skipped the salad corner and headed for the area with all kinds of dishes, including pasta, mala xiang guo (spicy stir-fry), and beef brisket and mung bean sprout stir-fry. QooQoo is a sushi buffet, but I loved that there were so many delicious things beyond sushi too 😋

The hot dishes were covered with lids, so they stayed warm, and I liked that it felt hygienic too!

What is there besides sushi?

QooQoo Chuncheon Branch even had kebabs, which felt like a slightly unusual option. I did not get to try one, but the meat looked so tender and delicious 👍🏻

Next came QooQoo's highlight: the sushi corner~ Maybe because there were so many guests, the sushi disappeared so quickly. But the staff made more just as quickly and refilled the trays, which was great!

There were also plenty of seafood dishes besides sushi, including sashimi, gejang (marinated raw crab), and soy-marinated salmon. The salty soy-marinated salmon went really well with the fried rice at the neighboring station.

My top picks: mentaiko mayo rice and beef brisket gunkan

My number-one pick at QooQoo Chuncheon Branch was the mentaiko mayo rice bowl! At a buffet, you want to try lots of different things, but if sushi has too much rice, you get full so fast..😂 This mentaiko mayo rice bowl was just one bite, so it was the perfect amount to sample. The mentaiko mayo was salty and nutty, and it was seasoned just right with the rice.

My boyfriend's top pick was the beef brisket and pickled radish gunkan sushi! He said it was delicious, so I tried one too. The beef brisket had a red seasoning, which gave it a gentle spicy kick. The tangy pickled radish and rice balanced that heat nicely. The spicy-and-tangy combination was really good.

Choose your own drinks and desserts too

QooQoo had lots of drinks as well as food! There were sodas, of course, plus slushies, juice, and milk tea, so you can choose whatever suits your taste!

After our meal, we enjoyed all kinds of desserts, including fruit, bread, and cake 😋

When it comes to dessert, nothing beats ice cream! They had ice cream with a strong Baskin-Robbins kind of feel, as well as bead ice cream. I went back for bead ice cream twice.

A great family dining spot with kids

QooQoo Chuncheon Branch has a kids' café where children can play, as well as high chairs, so it seems like a great place for a family meal 👍🏻 If you visit with a little one, the kids can have fun at the kids' café while the adults eat comfortably.
