Jeju Korean barbecue restaurant for families: Nopo Dwaeji Aewol

Nopo Dwaeji Aewol is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Aewol, Jeju, serving Jeju black pork, pork jowl, and kimchi stew. After exploring Aewol with the kids, we alternated thick-cut black pork and chewy pork jowl before finishing with a filling kimchi stew. A handy choice for a family meat meal on a Jeju trip.

Monocle Jeju is a dessert café in Namwon, Seogwipo, Jeju, with a broad garden and gluten-free cheesecakes. We tried iced Jeju matcha latte, Americano, Victoria cake, chocolate fudge cake, and sweet pumpkin cheesecake; the sweet pumpkin cheesecake lingered most. Verdict: Monocle Jeju is ideal for a sunny, unhurried garden break.

Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch is a Korean restaurant in Yongdam, Jeju, where you can eat mixed grilled fish together with a stew. We ordered the Keun-adeul (Eldest Son) set for 2 and had a filling spread of mackerel, cutlassfish, flounder and yellow croaker with a spicy sundubu (soft tofu) stew. A solid choice when you want a generous grilled fish table close to Jeju Airport.

Jeju seafood restaurant takeaway for late-night snacks: Dutumhoe

Dutumhoe Dongmun Market Main Branch is a seafood restaurant in Dongmun Market, Jeju. I packed sashimi, futomaki and coconut fried shrimp, eating the fried shrimp at a nearby park before saving the chilled seafood for a late-night snack at our accommodation. Verdict: a nice low-pressure way to enjoy several Jeju dishes on a trip.

Jeju seafood restaurant breakfast set with ocean views: Soseom Jeonbok

Soseom Jeonbok is a seafood restaurant on Udo Island in Jeju, where diners can enjoy abalone dishes overlooking the sea. I rode a scooter there and had the 48,000 won Honryesang Set with abalone stone-pot soup, sea urchin seaweed soup, abalone rice, and butter-grilled abalone. Verdict: a satisfying ocean-view first meal with a seriously generous abalone spread.
