Gyeongju fruit mochi café on a strawberry sellout day: Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a dessert café on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk that sells fruit mochi with whole fruit inside. Strawberry and tangerine mochi had already sold out on the day of this visit, so the picks were mango yogurt at 7,500 won, gold kiwi at 5,500 won and dark chocolate at 6,000 won — the mango yogurt tasted tart like real fruit, while the gold kiwi burst with juice. Tareudang's fruit mochi works well as a one-handed snack while walking Hwangnidang-gil.

After eating and wandering around Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, I got a sweet tooth and stopped by Tareudang! The fruit mochi with whole fruit inside looked way too good to pass up haha. We picked three: mango yogurt, gold kiwi, and dark chocolate. Let me introduce them one by one for anyone looking for a simple dessert on Hwangnidang-gil haha.

I found Tareudang while walking Hwangnidang-gil 🥭🍈🍇 There was a photo out front of the fruit mochi with big chunks of fruit inside, and it immediately caught my eye. From strawberry to tangerine to kiwi, the mochi are cut so you can see the cross-section of fruit, and they were just so cute-looking hahaha. When I visited, strawberry and tangerine had a sold-out sign up, but there were still several other kinds in the case, so I picked from what was left based on my taste!
There was also a discount for buying multiple ✔️ it said buying 4 or more mochi gets you ₩500 off each. Good to know if you're visiting with a group or want to try a bunch of flavors!
Tareudang fruit mochi menu and prices

On my visit the menu had dark chocolate, peach yogurt, mango yogurt, fig yogurt, gold kiwi, and more. By the photo, prices were: dark chocolate ₩6,000 / peach yogurt ₩7,000 / mango yogurt ₩7,500 / fig yogurt ₩5,500 / gold kiwi ₩5,500 / pineapple ₩5,500.
After going back and forth, we settled on 🥭mango yogurt + 🥝gold kiwi + 🍫dark chocolate haha. My mom and I went for the refreshing fruit mochi, and my brother loves chocolate so he picked the dark chocolate! Two fruit-based ones plus one sweet chocolate one — pretty good combo overall.

They wrap each one in plastic when you order, and from the outside you can't tell which mochi is which, but the color of the wrapper actually tells them apart haha.

Tareudang is genuinely a place I'd recommend as a café/restaurant on Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju... 💗 It's a great snack to eat while walking around!
How's the mango yogurt mochi?

First up was the one I was most excited about — mango yogurt! It's a fruit mochi with mango, but the added yogurt gave it a different feel from a regular red bean fruit mochi. After eating and walking around Hwangnidang-gil so much, a fruit-based dessert like this suited me better than something too heavy haha. But instead of a super chewy mochi texture, it leaned more toward the tartness of real fruit!

Gold kiwi mochi bursts with juice
We also picked gold kiwi 🥝 Isn't the whole charm of fruit mochi the big chunk of fruit inside chewy rice cake? There was a genuinely huge piece of kiwi inside, so when I took a big bite — pop! — the kiwi juice burst out, and it was seriously delicious!!!

Mix in a dark chocolate mochi too
I wanted something sweet besides fruit, so we also ordered a dark chocolate mochi 🍫 It's such a different vibe from the fruit ones that I was glad we picked three haha. If mango yogurt and gold kiwi are all about that fresh fruity feel, dark chocolate is the one to reach for when you want something sweet. So personally, if you're buying several, I'd recommend mixing in one non-fruit flavor like the dark chocolate instead of going all-fruit 💗
Tareudang fruit mochi as a Hwangnidang-gil snack
Walking around Hwangnidang-gil while traveling in Gyeongju, there are so many cafés and dessert shops. Among them, the fruit mochi at Tareudang, a well-known café on Hwangnidang-gil, is easy to hold and eat with one hand, and the fruit-filled visual is pretty too — worth trying at least once as a Hwangnidang-gil snack haha. The mango yogurt, gold kiwi, and dark chocolate we picked all had different vibes, so it was fun trying a few! If you're looking for a Gyeongju Hwangnidang-gil restaurant or a light café/dessert stop after a meal, check out Tareudang's fruit mochi too :)
