Sangbong Korean BBQ with DIY Hangang ramyeon: Super Naengsam
In short
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a frozen pork belly (naengsam) restaurant in the Sangbong dining alley in Jungnang, Seoul, serving stews and self-fried rice alongside Hangang ramyeon you boil at your own table, plus beer and soju. Three servings of frozen pork belly were dusted generously with pepper and grilled with kimchi, paired with a soju-beer mix from the soju or beer 2+1 event, then finished with soup ramyeon and self-fried rice. Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch works equally well for a meal with a drink or as a second-round stop.

I usually eat thick pork belly a lot, but lately I've been craving frozen pork belly (naengsam) with a shot of soju instead of the thick stuff. Suddenly wanting naengsam again after a while, I looked around and ended up at Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch in Sangbong.
I was looking for a place where I could enjoy a full meal alongside drinks rather than just grilled meat and done, and it turned out this spot even lets you cook your own Hangang ramyeon, so I went straight there.
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch — great for a laid-back soju-beer

What is Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch like inside?
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a naengsam restaurant in the Sangbong dining alley, and when I walked in, I didn't get that typical greasy smell you find in a lot of BBQ places. That smell is honestly something I worry about when picking a meat restaurant, so the clean interior made a great first impression.

The tables aren't too cramped either, so it's a comfortable spot for a meal with a drink.

Especially these days with the nice weather, the Sangbong dining alley gets packed with people at the outdoor patio tables. Super Naengsam's yajang tables seem pretty popular too~~~
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch menu and prices
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch's main item is frozen pork belly, but they also have stews and fried rice for a full meal, plus Hangang ramyeon and a variety of drinks.

- SUPER meal menu: doenjang jjigae, kimchi jjigae, sundubu jjigae ₩5,000 each, self-fried rice per serving ₩3,000, rice ₩1,000
- SUPER noodles: Hangang ramyeon ₩3,900 (ramyeon, jjapaguri, buldak bokkeummyeon, bibim noodles, etc.)
- SUPER drinks: draft beer 300ml ₩2,900 / 500ml ₩4,900, beer and soju ₩5,000 each, cheongha ₩6,000, soft drinks ₩2,000

They also sell something called super tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) — limited to 10 servings a day for ₩5,000. (As a tteokbokki lover, I'm definitely trying this next time!!)

How the soju or beer 2+1 event works
On top of that, they're also running a soju or beer 2+1 event, which was pretty exciting news for alcohol lovers haha. Naengsam especially goes so well with soju-beer, and having this event made it extra fun. We made full use of it too. 👍
What you can grab from the self-service bar
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch has a self-service bar where you can grab as much lettuce, perilla leaves, and side dishes as you need. We started off with 3 servings of naengsam.

They set up the first round of side dishes by default when you order, and you can grab more from the self-service bar yourself if you need extra.

I tend to eat a lot of lettuce and perilla leaves with meat, and it can feel a little awkward asking for refills, so it was nice being able to just grab as much as I needed on my own.

There were plenty of side dishes too, like scallion kimchi and bean sprouts, and even enoki mushrooms at the self-service bar, which were great grilled alongside the meat. And the meat itself came out fast once ordered🤍

How does frozen pork belly with plenty of pepper taste?
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch's frozen pork belly is perfect grilled with a generous sprinkle of black pepper alongside kimchi. Since it had been a while since I'd had naengsam, seeing the thin slices spread out on the grill felt oddly nostalgic.

You know the drill, right..? Naengsam with pepper hahaha. Sprinkle on plenty of pepper, then grill it golden with kimchi — that taste??!

The savory flavor unique to thin naengsam, combined with the umami of the seasoned bean sprouts and stir-fried kimchi, is a combo that never fails. Naengsam has its own charm that's totally different from thick pork belly...💛

Since it's not too thick, it doesn't feel heavy, and it keeps calling for more soju...haha. Even as a lightweight, I had two shots for the first time in a while, haha. After eating a good amount of meat, I started craving some soup, so I cooked up some Hangang ramyeon myself.

Finishing with DIY Hangang ramyeon and self-fried rice
Hangang ramyeon is ₩3,900 and lets you choose between ramyeon, jjapaguri, buldak bokkeummyeon, and bibim noodles — we picked the soup noodle option!
It was great being able to cook it up right there when I started craving warm broth mid-meal, and pairing the Hangang ramyeon I hadn't had in a while with Super Naengsam's scallion kimchi was absolutely delicious. 👍
A Sangbong naengsam spot that was great for a light meal and a drink

We finished off with self-fried rice, making for a very satisfying meal. (I hesitated before ordering it, but the self-fried rice is a total recommendation⭐️)

It's a great spot for a light meal with a drink, and it also works well as a low-pressure second-round spot after a first stop.

If you're looking for a comfortable bar or naengsam spot to visit in Sangbong, this place is worth checking out.
