On one day with absolutely gorgeous weather, my partner and I took a little trip to Daejeon. Since we were there, we stopped by Seongsimdang and picked up the fig sireu cake I love, then wondered where to have lunch. For some reason, I was really craving spicy octopus stir-fry with that deep fire-grilled flavor for the first time in ages.
So we headed straight to Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch (복사꽃피는집 대전점). We were looking for somewhere to eat around Sutonggol, and it turns out this place is known for webfoot octopus and octopus stir-fry.
A large parking lot and a spacious dining room
Boksakkot Pineun Jip was in a slightly quiet area. We came by car, and the first thing I loved was the parking lot! It was seriously spacious, so we could park and walk in without a single worry.
The building was large too, with the restaurant on the first floor. Once inside, it was far roomier than I expected. The tables were nicely spaced out, and the whole place felt clean and comfortable. It looked like it could easily handle a big group, so I thought it would be great for family meals or gatherings too.

This is normally a place with a wait, so there was a Tabling wait-list machine by the entrance. We could sit down right away when we visited, but I could see waits happening at mealtimes.
A varied menu, from octopus to webfoot octopus

The menu had not only fire-grilled octopus stir-fry but also fire-grilled webfoot octopus stir-fry, spicy pork stir-fry, bulgogi (marinated grilled beef), and more. That must be why plenty of people looking for webfoot octopus around Sutonggol come here too. But what we wanted that day was octopus, not webfoot octopus!

My partner loves octopus stir-fry too, so we ordered the fire-grilled octopus stir-fry set for two without hesitation. It was ₩17,900 per person. There was one reason I especially liked this set, though: it came with pizza! We both love pizza so much, and getting to have pizza with octopus stir-fry was completely our kind of meal.
Self-serve side dishes and drinks

After we ordered, the food was laid out more quickly than expected. The first thing to arrive was muksabal, a chilled acorn-jelly soup, and it was seriously delicious.

It paired so well with the spicy fire-grilled octopus stir-fry, and it was so refreshing that I kept reaching for it.
There was also salad and a few side dishes, and we could pick up extra side dishes at the self-service bar. I also liked that drinks were self-serve, with no need to order them separately.

There was a good variety, including cola, cider, and Fanta, so we could comfortably grab whatever we wanted. Side dishes were available for refills, and alongside the basic banchan there were toppings that were great for mixing into rice.

There was also a little snack stand selling chips and ice cream. It was a restaurant, but there were so many little things to see and enjoy that it was fun.
How was the smoky fire-grilled octopus stir-fry?

Finally, the fire-grilled octopus stir-fry we had been waiting for arrived. It was exactly the flavor I wanted that day!

I piled plenty of octopus onto my rice and mixed it all together, and that smoky fire-grilled aroma came rushing up from the very first stir. There was a really generous amount of octopus too. I loved that almost every spoonful caught a piece of it.

A big spoonful—cheers! It was spicy, with that distinctive smoky flavor from direct fire-grilling, and it was so good. My partner took one bite and said it was delicious, and maybe because it had been so long for me, I enjoyed it even more. Mixed with rice, it was the kind of flavor that kept me eating even without any other side dishes.
The octopus-set pizza was better than expected

Honestly, I did not expect much from pizza served at an octopus stir-fry restaurant. But this was better than expected.
The cheese stretched and stretched, like a waterfall of cheese! One bite in, it was much tastier than I thought it would be. A slice of pizza between bites of octopus stir-fry, then back to the octopus. This combination actually works surprisingly well. More than anything, since we both love pizza, we really loved the set.
A good space to visit with children
There was a separate kids' area on one side of the restaurant. It was nicely set up for children to play while waiting for their food. That made it look like a good option for a family meal with children or a get-together of several families.
The restaurant itself was spacious and the parking was plentiful, so it also seemed convenient for larger groups.
Can you have coffee after the meal?

After paying, you can get coffee. There were lots of varieties, too. We just got one hot Americano.

After finishing our delicious meal and walking out, I spotted a pretty terrace off to one side.

And in the building next door, there was a separate space styled like a café. It was somewhere to enjoy coffee after eating, and the atmosphere was much nicer than I expected.

The terrace was pretty, and the interior was designed like a café, so it did not feel like we were simply drinking coffee at a restaurant. It really felt as though we had come to a proper café.

We got our coffee and relaxed over it for a while.

At first, I thought, “What is this place?” But after eating and having coffee, it really was a full course. Octopus stir-fry → pizza → coffee → snacks! I honestly thought, this owner is the best.
Ice cream for writing a review
And one more thing! You can get ice cream if you write a Naver review. A delicious meal plus dessert made the whole experience even more satisfying.
If you are also looking for webfoot octopus in Daejeon

We had the fire-grilled octopus stir-fry that day, but seeing webfoot octopus on the menu made me want to try the fire-grilled webfoot octopus stir-fry next time. So I think this could be a good option for anyone looking for a good webfoot octopus restaurant in Daejeon too.
The spacious restaurant, parking lot, and kids' area make it convenient for families in particular. And like us, you can come as a couple, enjoy a delicious lunch, and take your time over coffee afterward. Above all, I was so satisfied that the ₩17,900-per-person set included octopus stir-fry, pizza, drinks, and coffee after the meal. The value and the lineup were so good that I found myself thinking, “Does this even make sense?” We left after a very happy meal.
Buying fig sireu cake at Seongsimdang and then having such a delicious lunch made our Daejeon outing feel completely finished! If you want to eat something good with your partner and spend an unhurried afternoon over coffee on a nice day, this could be worth a visit. We cleared another delicious meal today♡
