I was looking for good food near Sanghyeon Station and this time I really wanted jokbal haha. So I went to Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch! I heard this place only uses domestic fresh trotters and boils them in-store every day, so I went in with high expectations :)

Parking and when to visit

It was close to Sanghyeon Station so it was easy to find, and since I drove there was underground parking so I could park comfortably! They also support 2 hours of parking, which I liked because it meant I could finish eating without rushing haha.

Also, since there's no break time, it seems like a good option for that awkward late lunch or early dinner slot. The interior is spacious and clean too, so it looked great for a family dinner or a get-together with friends.

Basic table setting

Basic side dishes served alongside the jokbal

They also serve bean sprout soup as a default, and it was surprisingly delicious too. The broth is clean and refreshing, so taking a spoonful between bites of jokbal really cleanses the palate. It'd probably go great with a drink haha.

Glossy plate of warm jokbal

When the jokbal came out, the glossy shine alone looked so appetizing haha. It came out as a full spread that looked filling just to look at.

How did the domestic fresh trotters taste?

What I liked most was the texture of the jokbal! There was almost no gamey smell here, and it was clean-tasting. Since it's domestic fresh trotters boiled fresh the same day, it definitely had that warm, moist feel that I liked.

Moist domestic fresh jokbal meat

The meat wasn't tough or dry, it was soft, and the skin part was nice and chewy — the texture was really good haha. Eating the soft meat together with the chewy skin was such a good combination!

It's tasty on its own, but also delicious dipped in the sauces that come with it. Especially the spicy sauce — it was oddly addictive, so once I dipped one piece I kept reaching for more lol.

Free makguksu for dine-in

And I can't leave out the makguksu that comes free with dine-in!

Free makguksu served with dine-in orders

It had that tangy-sweet flavor that really wakes up your appetite, and it paired perfectly with the jokbal. Wrapping a piece of jokbal in the makguksu noodles and eating it together was so good... T_T Both the jokbal and the makguksu were delicious, so it was very satisfying haha.

Overall the portions were generous and the meal felt well put together as a full dinner. I especially loved the texture of the jokbal itself, probably because it's domestic and boiled fresh daily — it was moist and tender with no gamey smell at all, so I really enjoyed it :)

Good for what kind of gathering?

The atmosphere is nice enough for a family dinner, and it'd also be great for drinks with friends over jokbal. The takeout discount also makes it a good option for grabbing some after work to eat comfortably at home!
